Mini Toy Review
GX-07 Mazinger Z OVA
I was finally able to buy my long overdue GX-07 OAV version Mazinger Z from Malvin (Greattoys).
This may be late in the game, but I just enjoyed this toy so much I had to do a mini review.
Between the 01, 01R, even the 02R, I would have to say I like the 07 best.
The GX-07 Mazinger Z is brilliantly painted in glossy black, with silver trims, which matches my Aoshima Blackwing Mazinkaiser from left to right. It has a very robust and funky look to it, much like the chunky rendition of Getter One toy from the Armageddon OVA (made by Yujin), and that I like very much. I can't believe how much better it looks in person, and those red trims in the eye pieces, priceless! It totally completes that "I'll kick your @$$" look to it.
GX-07 basically has the same articulation like the first Mazingers, but I would have to say the 07 has the best range of motion. And with the availability of the waist, and chest articulation, add the nicely contoured feet, it can pull off some very dynamic poses that can almost rival my old G.I. Joes. It can actually stand up through a shake test. Something my GX-02R has not been able to survive (round feet + heavy top = face buster).
I just wish the neck had more movement though, but I guess the waist articulation saved it.
There is a slight, if not minor downside though. What the 07 more than makes up for in articulation, it lacks with accessories. You can tell from the thin box that it doesn't have much inside.

- Rocket Puch Launcher 2X
- Standard Forearm for Launcher 2X
- Hatchet Punch 2X
- Hover Pilder (folded) 1X
- Hover Pilder (open) 1X
- Breast Fire Plates 2 Pairs
- Display Stand
Yes, unfortunately no Scrander, no melee weapons, not even a giant missle, but then again, there never was one shown in the OVA (I imagine the same with the Manga).
Overall, despite the lack of accessories for this toy, it is a very nice piece to display and play with. Anyone who doesn't have this toy, or want a good alternative to the 01R, I highly recommend this toy, if you don't mind not having too many accessories on it. ;D
