You'll notice the duller gold dairugger is the bootleg. The original was shinier, and did not come with propellers or sword. A tragedy occoured during this shoot - first, i caused a chogokin landslide pulling the DX out, and then, his blue fist shot off and the part of the fist that locks in DISENTEGRATED right in my hand. So, if anyone has a blue fist for the DX dairugger (matchbox or popy), please let me know.

I wish I could help you with the fist...
But this is a query re the Gold ones...
My gold one has the sword and propellors, and is marked and boxed. as a Victora original. As I understood it, Victora were a cheaper spinoff from Popy, in much the same way Seven span off from Takara.
Whatever - that's a great set of pictures - on the bright side, at least the fist disintegrated giving you photographic evidence. Imagine if it had disintegrated in splendid isolation....

Well, as far as i know popy itself issued the gold dairugger, under the MECHAGOLD banner. I have both the popy box and the bootleg box. The bootleg box looks a lot like the real one, but check to see where it was made. I think the bootleg has made in taiwan on it...
Do you have a scan of your box? I can scan mine tonight and we can know for sure. I'm curious.

Well if I wasn't so dumb, I'd know how to post a scan... I can tell you exactly what the box says though... It's black, with 'Kikoukantai Dairugger XV' on top and bottom flaps, and 'Dairugger XV Mechagold' on each side. The back is blue, with an exploded diagram of the robot on it, and 'Kikoukantai Dairugger XV Mechagold' at the top. There's no markings anywhere and now I look properly, it does have a few telltale bootleg signs... For example, there's a sticker on the lower back of the box saying 'SL-855', which is a bit of a giveaway, and the writing on the exploded diagram is in English. Another KO giveaway! It says '* can disassemble like this diagram', and '*let's play mecha gold'. SO there it is. It is Mechagold, but it has the telltasle KO marks. Oh yes, and its insert is a plastic tray, not a styrofoam. Please don't tell me my investment was wasted - this guy cost me $6...

Sounds like a boot for sure, but at $6 its still a good value.
Anyway, I'll scan some stuff tonight to be sure.

Yup. He's a boot all right.
And he's just about the only robot I've got that my wife likes. Must be something to do with gold......
