It's exactly like the original version in as far as having used the same molds. The parts that are plastic are slightly less quality, and the paint job is not as nice. Which is expected, I suppose.

Its the next best thing to the real one. the matchbox version is better quality, but missing missiles and accessories.
Skip the trendmasters version.

What are your beefs with the Trendmasters version? I just got one and it looks ok, I dont have the originals or the Taiwan version to compare it too but I have seen the Taiwan version, looks a little shabby.

original is still the best. Save up for a real one. Nothing like the real thing. Got a godtron aka godmarz and ashamed to display it because the quality was so bad.

we need a review on this. (Edit...oops didnt realize how old this post is but if someone else is wondering the same thing....) guys guys, you do know that due to demand, Matchbox requested Voltron be manufactured in Taiwan? that is why you will find some labeled with made in Taiwan stickers. I will tell you a story. My first yellow lion was a bootleg. Came in a Grey Japanese Golion logoed box. The chrome is like five miles thick, had dangerously sharp teeth, shot missiles like crazy and up until I was a bit more schooled in Voltron stuff I thought the legs were diecast, thats how great the chrome was. 30 years old and NO chips. Thats how good the quality was. Not saying later Lionbots are as good but living in queens in the 80's we were flooded with Lionbots and I grew up with them. Now.. heres the kicker. I have a lionbot and on this lionbot, the red and green lion heads have the Bandai logos underneath the jaws like the legit ones EXCEPT that the factory workers took a dremel to it to remove the Bandai trademark...except from doing so many, they got sloppy and the logo is visible in parts. I have a 2 year old small review on the Lionbot in the beginning of this Korean Voltron review and you can see the Bandai markings on my lionbot. The Trendmasters wasnt the best but it was $29.99 when it came out! The colors were pale and the arms had fins on the shoulder. Say what you want about the TM Diecast Voltron but remember it was $30 and came in a huge styro box with a window! Now you get a PVC figure for that price. I dont think the Trendmasters was bad quality, but its way overpriced now. I have a few lionbots and the newest one I got was in the 90's and I noticed the black lion legs werent chromed, instead they were stickered. However if you want a fully missile firing Voltron, I recommend the Lionbot. Golions are expensive although the best quality. Cant beat a lionbot for what you get for $100 Edit: Here is a picture of what Im talking about.
