I'm just starting to collect die cast robot toys. Mazinger Z is one of my favorites and I'm just wondering how much it cost for a good condition, complete accessories with box of a GA-01 1st version(original, not re-issue). Your help is highly appreciated.

$1500 and up for second and third version (no chest missiles). It's really hard to find the "original" GA-01 with chest missiles in original box. I read somewhere that due to the material used or the manufacturing process, not too many would have survived even if not played at all.

... and if someone survived.... I think not less than 10.000 USD

There's always a GT-00,exactly like the original but with plastic shoulders and in a smaller convinient size. I understand your looking or the exact original GA-01,but I have seen none of them up for bid on EBAY.

Yes, you're absolutely right CHOGOv9, I've been already searching for a year now, not even a loose one has shown up. I have the GT-00 already, but still having the original one reminds me of those yesteryears being a kid. Well I guess this is a challenge for me to go on searching, perhaps maybe in yahoo japan auctions, where my friend told me that prices for vintage toys are unreasonably high.

have you try Yahoo Japan? They do sometimes appear in the popy section for auction but yes, the price is sky high for a good condition one.

I have the repro of it and it's really satisfying. you can grab them for about $50 on eBay. If you want I can throw up some images of it later tonight or tomorrow. I guarantee you won't be able to tell the difference.

Yes, the Banpresto one. They even produced a black version. Those also are on my list. But having the original one still feels different, it has historical value. My dream is to collect those vintage japanese robots, plus those newer SOCs and showcase them together with their boxes side by side on wide glass shelves. Label them according to date of manufacture and their corresponding informations. It's just like creating a "robot museum" , wherein one day as I grow old, seeing them all together just makes my day.

Just a thought, do you guys think that the accessories of the banpresto version (rocket punches and chest missles) can fit exactly to the original ga-01 1st version? Coz I think a loose original ga-01 1st version would be more practical in acquiring than a complete and good condition one.
