Hi Guys, I've been looking for a list / guide for the Chogokin / Popy Gashapon figures, such as these - Is there any info out there?

I have some of these coming. Sets 3, 4 and 5. I can post some pics and a quick review when they come. I think they look nice in the available pics. Apparently, some of them have small amount of diecast, like the chest, or similar main piece. These are for my new desk location at work.

Hi Sketcher,
Strangely enough I got set No. 5 through the post today. You're right there is diecast parts on every figure. I may say that I'm very please with them.
Once I get my camera batteries charged, I'll post some pictures with a short review of each (see if I can beat you to it).

Glad to hear you like them! I am looking forward to getting mine. I had to have that Grendizer set, then I saw the Daiku Maryu and Gaiking in the other set. I wonder how hard it will be to find the rest. I have seen another series that includes vehicles and ships. They have Varidoran and Kyodain Jet among others. I don't know if those have any diecast content but they appear to be in the same series with a very similar packaging style and numbering system. I now have my latest fixation! ;D The best part is that they are cheap!

Thanks for posting Thunderbreak! Do you have any of the vehicles series? I am seriously considering those as well. Can't wait for these to arrive!

You know, as long as I have been hanging around Robot-Japan I have not seen a really good thread with pictures on Gashapon. These things are cool! I'd like to see more. How about some side by side shots of the gashapon figures with the original Popy toys.

Thought I would add a few snaps (sorry about the over compression of the photos) CGA-19 - Getta Dragon, Diecast lower legs, moveable arms, comes with axe and stand. CGA-20 - AkaRanger, Diecast boots, moveable arms, comes with whip and stand. CGA-21 - Daidenjin, Diecast wings, converts into spaceship, comes with sword (very bendy in my case!) CGA- - DaiKuuMaryuu, Diecast hatch, converts (with the help of an addition tail) into the rolled up position. Comes with additional tail and a sprue with 3 tiny 'things' (so small I can't make them out!) a snap of the boxes-

Gazza -
Open up that Daiku, get a jeweller's loupe (or just a magnifying glass) and check out the 3 tiny 'things'. They're pretty much perfect Nesser, Skyler, and that other one whose name always escapes me - Bazoler (?) and they'll all fit on the head of a (large) pin...

Just got Set 5! These things are great! I am now officially hooked on them. I "Gotta catch em all!" As soon as the other sets show up, I will post some pics. These are going in my cubicle at work. A miniature representation of my chogokin fixation. ;D

Apparently there is an accompanying mini poster that was available for each set. I think they are for store display purposes. Does anyone have a nice scan of each/any mini poster they can share? Thanks!
