I know they're cheap, but you can't help buying them. If you don't look too closely, they're near facimiles of the original Popinika and Chogokin toys that you played with as a child, albeit really tiny and made mostly of plastic. It would be cool if they made them completly out of diecast, but what can you expect from cheap gashapon toys?
Currently the Capsule Popinika and Capsule Chogokin series are becoming harder to find. Bandai, however, has reissued some of the more popular parts of the series. For the others, the current market price isn't cheap if you manage to find them at toyshops or online. I saw one toyshop in Taipei selling the Capsule Chogokin Part 3 for over 30 USD.
Capsule Popinika Parts 2 & 3 were reissued last year. It's popular because it includes the five Volt Machines that can combine to form Voltes V.

CGA-06 Kamen Rider Sutoronga
CGA-05 Great Mazinger

CGA-09 Getter 1
*I thought one of the factory workers made a mistake painting this Capsule Getter 1's shoulders blue, so I painted them red. Oops! It turns out they're supposed to be blue just like the other variation of the original Popy GA-02 Getter 1. Well, I bought several more of this Capsule Getter 1, so now I have both the red and blue shoulder variations.
CGA-11 UFO Spazer & CGA-12 Grendizer
*CGA-11 (UFO Spazer) and CGA-12 (Grendizer) are my favorites out of the whole Capsule Popinika & Chogokin Series. Just like the original Popy version, this cheap gashapon Grendizer can join with the UFO Spazer.
CGA-11 UFO Spazer
CGA-12 Grendizer
*I never owned an original Popy GA-37 DX Grendizer, but this capsule rendition is sooooo cute!

CGA-13 Gaiking
CGA-14 Robocon
The GX-01R should give you an idea of this capsule Robocon's size.
CGA-15 Getter 2
CGA-16 Getter 3
CGA-17 Robot Junior

CGA-18 Daiku Maryu
*Just like the original Popy GA-52 Daiku Maryu, this capsule Daiku Maryu also has two variations: one has yellow horns and the other has white horns. I thought the CGA-18 with yellow horns was fake and didn't buy it. Shucks! Well, I could always take out my paintbrush and some yellow model paint.
CGA-19 Getter Dragon
CGA-20 Red Ranger
CGA-21 Daidenjin

CPA-09 Hover Pileder
CPA-14 Volt Crewzer
CPA-15 Volt Bomber
CPA-16 Volt Panzer

CPA-19 Brain Condor
CPA-20 Queen Star
CPA-23 Volt Frigate
CPA-24 Volt Lander
Volt Machines & Voltes V
I have most of the Capsule Popinika & Chogokin series. What I don't have are other color variations from special Japanese toy magazine give-aways. Does anyone have the other color variations, such as the light-blue Getter Eagle, Getter Jaguar, and Getter Bear?
I've yet to take photos of all these capsule Popy/Chogokin, so check this post often.
