Very Well put. great work. I had always want one as a kid even tho I never saw the cartoon. I tho it really look like a robot(COMPARED TO SOME OTHER ROBOTS set at that period) to me so I like the design very much. I must added that this set is extreamly fragile! Need extra careful when trying to put together. otherwise, its a solid piece of DX CHOGOKIN history. Bryan

Argh! This is the one piece I have searched high and low for. Still have yet to find the whole shebang (or at least the parts) in cherry condition.

After 31 years, I finally got my Voltron II (Albegas)! It really is a shame that this toy is toy is fragile because of the blue Beta robot's disintegrating plastic. Few collectors will get to experience the pure fun it is to transform and play with this figure. For years, I didn't care about this toy until I finally watched the vintage Albegas anime series. And then a deep appreciation for this robot came shortly after watching the story anime. I grew tired of waiting for Bandai to release an SOC version so I decided to chance buying a vintage one on eBay. I was very paranoid about the Beta robot breaking during shipping, but I lucked out. It arrived in pristine unbroken condition! I actually have two Beta robots now. The other one has the typical broken abdomen, so I keep that one permanently transformed as the big guy's waistline/legs. And I just use the pristine condition one as a permanent smaller robot for display purposes. Now if only someone had an extra vintage Albegas sword for sale. And while I do like the Dynamite Action Albegas, nothing beats the vintage version even if it is a giant brick!

congrats on getting this fine piece of vintage gokin. yeah the blue robot is worrysome.. it deteriorates in time. i love mine. i love the colors! (i also need that combining sword) Transformation is better than the recently released parts swapping ET version. and its bigger, even though if displayed with Miracle, Toynami or Infinity Voltrons.. it still falls short.

Thanks CFF & Revolver! I am wondering, does WEP own the licensing and rights to the Albegas character? Is this why an SOC version was never attempted? But then again, how did Evolution Toys produce their Dynamite Action version of Albegas?

Honestly, I do not think that WEP owns Albegas. I do think that Bandai is currently not interested on Albegas.

To be fair I think trying to predit what Bandai's ever wandering interests might be is a rapid pathway to madness. I just accept that whoever is in charge of planning there is "not like other men" and leave it at that. I've always been fascinated by Albegas. I wish we could get a nice die cast version. Preferably one that does not disintegrate like a vampire in sunlight. It actually seems like it would be a good candidate for a SOC, at least design wise and as far as fan familiarity. It's in the same general ballpark as their other combiners such as God Sigma, God Mars, Ideon, Zambot and Daioji, no? As far as how ET has the rights? I am not 100% ET ever has the rights to whatever they produce? Or they work substantially different overseas than they do in North America? I can never quite figure out how it all works with them.

Japanese licensing distribution is different that the licensing distribution scheme practiced in North America.

Each year I keep my fingers crossed that we can get an SOC Albegas. I just think the sheer fact that there are 6 different configurations in combined mode is very fun just for replay value for displayed possibilities. And I do agree that Albegas is in the same ballpark as God Sigma, God Mars, etc. For now I'm content I have a vintage one in great condition although I can't really transform it to the other 5 remaining configurations due to the blue robot's fragility. I tried to move the blue robot's arms slightly and it already formed hairline cracks in the plastic. Wow! lol At least I can see the (3) robots and the big guy. The SOC Albegas could be so cool because it would have the combination sword, the individual robot's weapons like the spear and bow & arrow, plus the Abegas mini ships. For now, I'm just going to monitor eBay until a Denjinbox Albegas is available so I can secure a DX sword. I wonder if anyone recasts that.

I really like my albegas. Over time I found out that I like the look of the individual bots over the combined form. Separated they really look great. I like them combined but it is just so heavy.
I will probably be selling my albegas and my abega (yes, the popy new super abega/godaikin abega are actually from albegas) soon. If anyone is interested, PM me.
