Hi everybody,I recently picked up a Ulysses 31 Odysseus Spaceship.I know they were released in Europe as part as the Ulysses 31 TV show (French/Japanese coproduction). But I cannot find any Japanese info about it.Were the Ulysses 31 toys ever sold in Japan? Was the show aired in Japan?I've never seen a boxed Japanese version.Although the toys are pictured in one of the Popy ref books I have, they are in the foreign toys section with no mention of a Japanese version Any ideas?(I also was not sure where to post the thread,is there a place for Popynica stuff?) Here are some pics:

This is the right section. That is a nice piece you have there! Hopefully someone will chime in with some info. I am now curious.

Nice find I think the ships were only released in France and Italy, although I've also seen a promotional picture from Bandai UK but I don't know if they were ever actually released here. (and I may have read something about Canada once, but I can't find anything about it now ) There's a link here with more info on the shuttle or 'astronave' mordred.isi.edu/collection/popinica/astronave.html

Thanks guys, great link Gort, I still find it weird, on Alen Yen's Toybox DX, PC-21 comes after PC-20 (DX Jaguar Vulcan)so I gathered as it was in the PC section that it must've came out in Japan as it follows the Japanese popy numerotation scale. All the other toys from that time (Message from space,Gatchaman,Captain Future etc ... came out in Japan and Europe the only difference with Ulysses 31 is that it wasn't a true Japanese Anime)As for being released in the U.K,I think they were ,just like battle of the planets, they had 'BBC toys' or 'as seen on BBC' stamped on the box. Same with Inspector Gadget , I've never seen a Japanese version.

Thanks for another great link Gort.Great stuff.I'm going to try and get the 3 robots from that show, used to have them from back when I was a kid but ended selling them years ago with all my transformers collection to fund the Star Wars addiction I had at the time

Kinzoku, you seem to know your stuff so I may be preaching to the choir here, but I've seen a few of the robots on French ebay in the last couple of months miss-listed as Goldorak (nothing at the moment though )

Hi again Gort, I check E-bay France,Belgium, Italy fairly regularly, there are some good bargains to be picked up if you know where to look,I recently picked up a Denziman carrier (Denzitiger) listed as 'Vaisseau Spacial' or something similar super cheap complete with little antennas, all rubber tyres, the lot ,near mint (loose not boxed), and loads of other great stuff. There is also the fact that most French sellers do not take Paypal, so even when listed properly auctions can finish much cheaper. Some great toys, like the Denzitiger,Battle Fever and Battle shark combination were released for the French and Italian market so did loads of other bots such as Maskman (and all the other 'something-man' pre-Power Rangers bots),Tryder,Daitarn,Baldios,Zambot,Time Bokan stuff etc, thing is the companies that distributed them (apart from Bandai), renamed a lot of them with totally stupid names like 'Super Robot de l'espace' kinda 'stuff' and most people who own them nowdays don't really have a clue of their value nor what they are ;D In the U.K, I don't really think there are that many collectors of 'Japanese toys',people collect Tin bots, Transformers and Power Rangers but not that much Vintage 70's/80's die-cast super-robot...Still there are a few U.K members like Zoidstar who just posted pics of his 'Mouth watering collection'. I 'd like to post some pics of mine, but my collection is kinda 'not that great', I lack the funds (don't we all) plus I am a BIG Japanese video-game collector (vintage and new) so I have to balance the 2 Anyway,I'm rambling here Later
