I guess when some people hear and see the word "Godaikin", they automaticly associate it with the classic robots.
Gunbuster is a cool robot, and so is the godaikin figure. Fans just need to get more exposure to the modern robots so they can soak it in. *^__^*

tough choice........ i really like my GX-01R, but as far as weapons, variety, collectability...... its going to be Voltes V. i don't think anything is comparable as far as quality

actually Danguard Ace is much better show than Daitarn3 in my own opinion...but if you are talking about the toys...it is a tough one to choose one.

My Favorite SOC so far, I just got this one. Also my most expensive, beating out my GX-31 Voltes V purchase by around 5$. But honestly, I didn't think I did that badly. I got it new at 150 with 30 bucks shipping. I didn't even break the Harkens off the sprues to attach to Grendy in this photo.

Hmm, favorite classic Chogokin would be Golion. And favorite Soul of Chogokin would be GX-07 OVA Mazinger.
Same rationale for both. Golion was my first taste of diecast as a kid, and pretty much primed the pump for all the years hence. And GX-07 was my first reintroduction to collecting gokins, only this time with MONEY haha. All the other SOCs, literally, follow my OVA Maz.

It's obvious what my favorite SOC is.
As for the little 3" and 5" gokins, I like the Grendy lookalike "Galactor" and the "Gungan" gokins Captamerica sent me a while back...
Sometimes I'll tie a shoe sting to them and wear them like pendants when I go out about town, hangin out at coffehouses; festivals; playin gigs; and club venues on open-mic nights. They're great conversation pieces... and Folks dig 'em wherever I go. Sometimes I'll even wear 'em to work, too. ;D

On second thought, the SG-01 Tetsujin is hard to ignore....So clean, so big, so blue.
No, Golion still. Golion. Funny thing is, it wasn't until years after the two Golions that my brothers and I pretty much played with everyday until their demise did I realize they were both Lionbots. We'd pit the Lionbots against TF Omega Supreme, casting him as our "Ro-beast" while watching Volton on TV.
I didn't actually upgrade to a "legit" Golion until much later on as an adult collector, but the memories came flooding back the moment my fingers touched cold zinc. It did look a LOT smaller than I remember though haha.
In general, I find that the Golion is bigger, heavier, sturdier and less fiddly while having good articulation when compared to pretty much all the other DX Godaikins/Chogokins. Easily the most playable out of the bunch...
Magengar, you seriously wear your Gokins as pendants, or am I just gullible?

my personal favs. this was a lot harder than i thought:
Godaikin: GARDIAN. the fragile guy, nobody shows him any love. By far i think he's the most unique of the DXs, really awesome to play with when i was a kid. Golion/Voltron comes in a close second though, that thing could really take a beating and keep on ticking.
SOC: BLACK OX. great gimick, lots of diecast, simple but excellent design. besides being a villain, i can see this SOC being very high in demand once supplies dry up, and all those who missed out realize how awesome this guy is. but GX-01R MAZINGER Z is really, really close.

I don't have many Godaikins but it would have to be CombattlerV....man, does this boy have some chunk to him. I can imagine as a kid I would have played with this guy everday. In SOC's it would be Gaiking (GX-27)...it was the first SOC I purchased and it still has a hold on me. A close second would be BossBorot...he's such goofy looking guy and I love the interchangeable heads..... ;D

bomberx, I totally agree with you that GX-27 is a great toy for Gaiking....at least Gaiking comes in normal size like other SOC's robot not like the GX-05 and GX-05R..........on the GX-05 & GX-05R Gaiking robot is smaller in size.

Hard to choose one,but I'll be original;I like the original Video Warrior Laserion.Especially the uparmored version.I think it's abstract and kinda weird the way you can form the ship from his insides and then squash his frame down. But he sure looks imposing in the xtra armor, parabola reflectors on the knees etc.And he's got a cool gun.Gardian is cool too.Great face sculpt, neat sword that mimics his Russian nesting doll gimmick.
