Dynaman DX DyJupiter BiomanDX BioDragon Changeman DX Shuttle Base
...your thoughts on these and other DX Base / Large Vehicles that store combiners, or other robots. Since a recent move my tastes have been gravitating towards getting some of these ships/bases to display with my collection. I've noticed with some other toy lines that the playsets and bases are MUCH harder to find than the DX ships & bases (for the most part) from Popy etc. and i'd like to add some bases & ships to my display.
lots of questions guys. answer them as you will. as with a similar thread i posted in SOC, i'm talking about different but similar toys in the same thread so as not to clog the board.
-Dyjupiter, Shuttle Base, Bio Dragon- are the accessories worth getting one MIB Complete vs. Loose or box+styro only? I'm not a big stickler for condition in my own collection (battle damage! sweet!) but i do usually like getting at least the box styro & instructions when i buy vintage pieces for the collection.
-do any other combiners fit inside these guys? (example: can the Golion lions, Voltes, or Dairugger vehicles fit into either?)
-besides these 3, are there any other bases to recommend?
...i've seen some cool customs on various pages before but i'm looking to get the real deals to display with here. Bootlegs a-okay to recommend too.

it is a matter of taste....I personally like to collect those........there are nice to have.......I like their size because they are really big and nice looking when put next to the robots in a certain display.

I had more than one out of each............but guess what?!...............I don't even display non of my toys...........I still have a perfect one out of each and I am selling all the extras to aviod shipping them overseas..............believe me......when you ship overseas using a container.......anyone will try to get rid of unwanted stuff and try to fit in as much as you can..........and since these toys have big boxes...........takes space and I can add 2 soc toys instead of just one big one. I had a good 3 Dyjipiters as Extras............and 2 Bio Dragons as extras.........just yesterday I sold the last Bio Bragon.............I sold all the used ones and what is left is the new ones only................but the perfect new ones meaning box in this case with no shelf wear at all are kept for me......................I wish if one day I decide to open them all and display them proudly.............once I do..................I will take a lot of pictures........I did displayed one of the used ones for a day or 2 just to see how they look..........and I have to say........they are very nice.

Definately track down the Dyjupiter. It is a great design and can be found relatively cheap without the accessories. You probably won't miss the missiles (typical popy yellow) or the antenna. Its my fave' .

Ed he is right........you don't need the extra goodies that comes with it if you just want to display the toy...........displaying it without the accessories won't change the great design.

Um, isn't the dyjupiter just a big, white wedge with no playability whatsoever? I'm sure that thing is the one toy that must've popped up 150 times in my store in the 90s. It has a capsule on the top and the whole front opens up to reveal two levels for storage...is that it. You know, looking back now, it would've been great to put shogun vehicles in.

Sorry to flog a dead thread but what goes inside the Dyjupiter? Are there specific vehicles that are meant to go in it? I love it and just got one and immediately watched an episode of Dynaman but in that ep it just flew around. What specific vehicles actually go inside?

Dyjupiter is specifically designed for Dynaman! Dynaman breaks down into three vehicle components, and these three fit inside the ship. The head goes into the top dome, and the other two parts fit in the body. Every one of these large scale ships is designed to hold the title robot from each respective show. Can anything else fit inside? Possibly, but it is designed to custom fit only that particular robot. I'm surprised that there are not readily accessible photos of these with the parts stored, but a quick search turned up nothing. There must be some photos out there - will keep on looking. Sorry, my toys are too difficult to dig out to create these photos at this time.

Wow! We assume the interwebs and increased collections out there have filled the gaps in, but there's still tons of needed phots for archives. Motivating to dig stuff up.
On that note, getting ahold of some of the standard Chogokin reference books, mooks, bibles, etc that are out there, can help, as some of them show the BigScale ships with the parts of the robot docked, or nearby. Can't remember which one, but I'll look at GreenArrow book first.

You can see from the instructions how the various parts fit into the base:

I purchased an MIB Godaikin BioDragon (no instructions or aticker sheet) even though I don't have a BioMan yet. For Bioman, it definitely makes the toy awesome and is pretty necessary to enhance the vehicle mode display. The whole aircraft carrier thing is crazy awesome. This one is still relatively cheap and comes up every so often, if you want, Steve Agin usually eBays the ones that are mint with no outer box.
Dyjupiter will be next on my list after I get a dynaman, but beware, dyjupiters in any shape, especially boxed complete have been commanding very high prices lately.

Ah, thanks guys. I don't really want to buy a whole Dynaman but I might have some other diecast vehicles that fit inside. I've wanted a DyJupiter since I was 4 in the 80s and have always loved its goofiness. I love storage bases/vehicles, The artillatron and Pyramidus Zord from GoRanger/Power Rangers are also great (goofy) modern robot storage bases.

Actually, aoi, several guys have bought the loose, junker pieces, super cheap, of the robots, to display with the Big Scale bases, since you don't need any of the accessories, fists, etc to make it look just great.

Great point! Since the base stores the robot in separated vehicle modes, you can get away with incomplete specimens.

I have a Bio Dragon for sale on Ebay. Going cheap so far $2 as I started it out at .99 cents, and its running for 7 days. It will end on Tuesday. It has the original packing, missiles, and directions but no box. I'm selling 3 other robots with it. One Robotech valkyrie, a complete Godaikin Gardian, and a near-mint Godaikin Laserion. They are all in awesome condition too. Just search it out on Ebay and you'll see them.
