Hey ho all.....every flood has a silver lining?
Well, on Jan 1, my empty SG01 T28 box was stored quietly in a bookcase in my basement, which then got flooded. Boring story, resulting in inevitable insurance claim.
They're (probably) happy to pay out, but I need to find somehow the value of said SG01 box before the company can know how much the replacement value is.
Now, a while ago there were a few for sale, but I can't seem to find any evidence now, so I'm looking for some assistance from you guys. The last one I found was in summer 2006, and went for $3600US
Buying a box alone will be darned near impossible, so what I'll probably have to do is buy another boxed one, and then sell my (now unboxed) one, and the insurance co will hopefully pay the difference.
So - as much evidence or opinion as possible is sought here -
The questions are:
1. How much is an average price for a mint, unboxed SG01, with all accessories? 2. How much for a similar boxed version?
The box I lost was in the same condition as the toy - I'd give it a C9 - obviously it was opened (thank goodness, as now I'd have a completely annihalated box, AND a rusty T28...). It had an instruction sheet, but no other paperwork, and there were no small plastic bags or anything inside it either.
I should state that it was the Japanese SG01 box, not the US Godaikin version.
The Styro was good - about C8.5...but I think Godaikin or SG01 styro are probably the same?
So - intelligent and serious opinions and help sought!
Thanks so much
Tony

Last sg-01 box I saw on ebay went for about $150.00. One thing you have to realize is a loose box and a loose tetsujin sg-01 does not necessarily equal the value of a complete set. If your tetsujin suffered water damage as well then why dont you try to get the value of the complete set? Did you have it assessed before the damage occurred?

Thanks for the reply. That seems cheap for a good SG01 box - last Godaikin one I saw went for 299 BIN.
Do you know how good/bad it was? and did it include the styro?
The actual robot is fine - it was three floors away when the flood hit!
And as for loose robot + empty box not equalling the value of Boxed robot....why not? Unless its sealed, how could anyone know?

The box was in good shape, but not mint. What I was trying to say was that if you where to try to sell the box and robot separately on ebay you probably wouldn't get as much for it as you would a complete set.

I see what you mean....
No - all I meant was that it may be easier to buy a boxed one, then sell the 'spare' figure, rather than waiting for an empty box to come up...

Sorry to hear about that man....ugghhh! The T-28 seems to go for around $700 loose and in excellent complete conditon. That said, I've seen some auctions all over the board, so $700 is my average. As to a box from Japan....good luck! I missed that box only auction, but haven't seen another before. -Ever. So as cybermuton siad, sell the loose one after locating an entire replacement set. -With the insurance money P.S. Let me know if you have the instructions still. Ed

If I'd have seen that $150 box, I'd have bought it as a spare! Although then I'd have stored it right next to the other one, so now I'd be fretting about having lost two! My estimate is that a loose T28 is around the 6 - 800 mark, although I've noticed that supplies have dried up a bit lately. There was a boxed SG01 on ebay last week that was priced at around $2000, which seemed very reasonable, but it looks like it didn't sell. I know Animerobot in Italy have one which works out at around $6000, but I think that's very much on the high end! My feelings are - $6-800 unboxed figure $2500-3500 boxed, and $ for the box alone. Then there's the other $ for the rest of the paperwork, if you have to buy it separately. As for the (color) instructions......They too are now a blob of soggy pulp.
