-Odd. I can't say I've seen that one before.
It wouldn't suprise me if it were a transitional time. The factory may have been changing over to gray from the more expensive chrome. I doubt any person would forge that or make a fake....they could easily do the entire job.

It could have happened in the factory by using leftover pieces from the first press run combined with the second run?

I guess it does make it rare - which may or may not make it more valuable.
That said, $900 isn't cheap!

This is a known variant of the Popy Golion. The first version is all chrome middle sections on the Red and Green Lions; Second is the half chrome half not as seen here; Third is no chrome.

No Prob. I think the all-chrome is supah-rare, the half chrome also pretty rare, and the no chrome being the more common of the three.
