I just picked up this missile firing vinyl... With some more of the family... Its interesting to see how Raideen is portrayed in each toy form. There are many more Raideen toys out there than I own, but here's a start. Please feel free to add more to the gallery of... [glow=red,2,300] THE MANY FACES OF RAIDEEN[/glow]

Nice, Myles! What is that one in the middle with the light blue face shields? I have one of the new vinyls on the way from HLJ. Supposed to be in that size range. That missile firing version is sweet. I used to have that when I was a wee little pup. ;D

Supposed to be in that size range... sketcher, I'm not exactly sure which Raideen you're referring to, but I believe it's the Banpresto Raideen soft-vinyl figure. Anyhow, I just bought these two Taito Raideen plastic figures last night. Perhaps these are the ones you had ordered from HLJ. At first sight, these look ugly compared to the Banpresto, but they seem to look better in photographs. As you mentioned, these indeed are about the same size as the Banpresto Raideen. Normal Color VersionBlack Color VersionThese Taito Raideen figures are made of PVC plastic with most of them suffering from overapplication of glue at the base of the horns and glue stains on other areas. In any case, these were meant as prize items at arcades in Japan, so not much attention was given to quality control.

Yep, those are the ones. Taito Super Robonics UFO Catcher Prize. Cheap toy fix for the shelf! [edit] And LOL to the sweating comment! If he was in flight mode, the birds eye could be watering.

Sketcher, roboto is right. That's the Banpresto Raideen (a UFO catcher, I believe). I also have the Combattler that was also made. They're pretty nice, but the painted areas are sticky (sorta still wet), and I think I put a fingerprint on one of them!
The Taito's look nice, although I think the black one needs some edging. How large are these?

He, he... I thought Raideen was sweating... And LOL to the sweating comment! If he was in flight mode, the birds eye could be watering. I thought the comment was funny, too, but then I decided to do something about it. Initially, I thought of just buying another normal color Taito Super Robonics UFO Catcher Prize. Yet, I had picked the one I got after selecting from about six that were hanging in the toyshop, and those have similar or worse problems with glue stains. In any case, I decided to save the money by trying Duro Super Glue Remover. Well, I'd say it worked out great. The back of the package notes, " Remover may damage certain plastics, dull or mar paints... Test a small amount on an inconspicuous area." Therefore, at first, I tried using the remover on the area that's hidden by the face shield. The blue plastic was the base plastic, so I didn't have to worry about dulling or marring any paint. Also, the plastic was hard enough that the remover didn't melt it. I proceeded and removed the glue stain that was visible when the face shield is closed. BeforeAfter Yep, those are the ones. Taito Super Robonics UFO Catcher Prize. Cheap toy fix for the shelf! I've seen your display on RJ Toy Vault. It's great that you have a lot of space to display your vinyl figures and other robot toys. It's a different matter here in a dense, overpopulated city where collectors run out of space quickly. The Taito Raideen is about the same size as the Banpresto one. I also have both the Banpresto Combattler V and Raideen. Likewise, the painted areas are sticky, so you have to be carefull handling them. Wiping with cloth or regular tissue paper will leave cloth or paper particles on the plastic. Anyhow, I find that using refresher wipes (similar to baby wipes, but without alcohol) can remove most dust and fingerprints. I hope that helps.

I got the black one from HLJ but one horn was broken off and missing. I feel for you, man. However, even though the original packaging for this UFO-catcher prize is really cheap, HLJ should have packaged it securely. Perhaps you can return it and get a refund. It's interesting what HLJ noted about this Taito Raideen. This note: Please note that figures such as this are mass produced and as a result some inconsistencies in finish and painting may occur; these are not considered manufacturer's defects. If you absolutely must have perfection, prepare to do some touch-up work on your own.
