I'll try to post pics later. In the meantime I'll describe this as best I can.... I purchased this guy cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160222308783&ssPageName=STRK:MEAFB:IT and it arrived today. The box clearly says Bandai and it actually does have a Bandai 1986 copyright date on the back, but it seems like there are a LOT of differences compared to the pic on the box. I didn't even notice the lack of the yellow button on the chest when I bid at first, but comparing it to the box pics it also doesn't have launching fists, the upper chest design in red is actually different, and in general it seems like there is a lot less detail. Lower legs lack chrome and upper legs are plastic where the box seems to show die cast. Did they make a lot of changes in this guy and just never change the packaging?

Not sure - a lot of times what is on the box is the prototype. If it has a copyright you are probably fine. I've never heard of a boot of this.

Thanks guys. This was a piece I had always "almost got" and then had something else catch my eye so I wasn't all that familliar with it. I've just never seen a box with so many major differences between the toy and the prototype pictured on the box

I've just never seen a box with so many major differences between the toy and the prototype pictured on the box are you serious? Loads of toys have issues between the prototype int he picture vs the actual toy. go look at original Popy Chogokin toys. nothing like the toy inside. Macross has one I recall on the Super VF-1S by takatoku. the nose cone was really really pointy. there are plenty in modern toys in terms of paint application differences Or one I recall is the new Spiderman series toys. There is an animated style Venom and Dr. Octopus. go to your local toy store and take a quick peek on the back. the head sculpts for those toys looks NOTHING like the actual toy. luckily the actual toy headsculpts are better looking.

Well in all honesty most of my collection from that era was bought when I was a kid so my memory of comparing the toy to the box is probably less exact than it is now and since I keep my collection loose I don't often look at boxes at all, so this one seemed a pretty dramatic departure...
