I just ordered one. What's to expect from that toy for those who have it? It looks pretty cool in pictures...

This one is pretty cool and hard to find. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get one for? Only gripe I have with the HCM's, are they feel more like fragile models. I know that maybe a bit deceiving since their durability can be quite deceiving.

Is it? Woo-hoo! I'm excited because I don't own too many vintage non-TF transformable mechas...

It's a nice piece, I've had mine since the 80's. For a while there, they commanded prices around $300 but have gone down since the Medicom miracle action figure, which is also nice.

I absolutely loathe the Miracle version. It's a floppy POC (had the gold version).

Would like to see pics of this one you're speaking of.
I've got the Miracle version. I like it, although it needs improvement to sturdy up the joints and poses. I'm looking forward to acquiring the new SOC Raideen DX version set.

There you go! Got it today. HCM RD-GB1 1/300 Brave Raideen It's crazy because it's almost articulated like a modern day Soul of Chogokin figure (without the die-cast)... yet it's from 1985! Perfect transformation, articuled ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers (!)...

I wouldn't be surprised if Bandai "borrowed" a thing or two from the HCM.
Don't be quick to judge something by it's age, there are many toys that was better for one reason or another 20 years ago, than today.

Somewhere in the TBDX datafiles (I think in the Clover section?) it talks about how the Japanese freaked over the HCMs and shoppers "battled" to get them.
It seems HCMs ushered in a new era of robots, being a transition of going from the large metal chogokins we love to more realistically modelled robots, which many of us also love I guess. It's also interesting how HCMs are so cheap now. In fact I paid $12 for my Z Gundam, probably less than when it originally came out?

I absolutely loathe the Miracle version. It's a floppy POC (had the gold version). I disagree with you. Floppy, yes... but that's what glue is for. POC - NEVER!!! It is an awesome representation of Raideen. ;D }D

It's made of cheap plastic and you need to add tons of parts to transform it. Laaaaaaaaaaame. And btw, you're not supposed to have to fix joint floppyness on a brand new toy.

I've seen them on eBay for about $20...maybe the mystic is gone by the ways of the SOC's?

True. HCMs were a transition time toy that has been left in the dust. I love them, but I will never pay those crazy prices they once commanded. Models they were...
