Hello Forumites and Gundam experts out there!
I'm not really a Gundam fanatic (I collect diecast chogokins) but somehow managed to acquire this impressive looking 78 cm Gundam piece. It is not brand new and the knee joints need a bit of a repair but really easy to fix I think. My question is, how rare or how common are they? How much were they when they first came out?
Hope you guys can give me some much appreciated infos. Thanks!

Hey there, Wow, never thought I'd get to talk to someone who has one of these. This guy came out in July of 2002 for about $750. As far as I can recall, it was sold out during pre orders at HLJ. It looks pretty cool, if you don't mind, can I inquire as to how you got it? And as for rarity, well like I said, I've never talked to anyone who had one of these so, I'd say it's pretty rare, some of the more hard core Gundam fans might be more informed though, but I've never seen one in person. Here's the HLJ page for it: www.hlj.com/product/BAN900878

Wow, I didn't think it was that rare. I got it for $600. I disassembled it and washed the parts and is slowly putting them back together, just enjoying the building process. I just wish I got this brand new! Sorry but no photos yet. This afternoon a friend dropped by and dropped the piece that connects the shield to the arm and broke it! Luckily the kind of plastic they use reacts well to Tamiya plastic cement and was able to glue it back and there is no problem at all.

He broke the shield connector? Man, I wouldn't be friends with that guy anymore. Kidding.

I did feel like punching him but I'm afraid he might use the shield and make matters worse for me! The connector is okay by the way and we're still friends.

Hi guys, I managed to take some photos of the finished figure but not while I was putting it up. Quite a number of bolts in this one and plenty of ball joints as well. www.flickr.com/photos/30131495@N08/
