I've noticed that some 1/100 scale Gundams are more expensive than the bigger 1/60 scale ones. Not the PG 1/60's, but the one's that say "big scale". Why is this so? Is the 1/100 scale the "premier scale" for Gundam's? I'm also not referring to a Dendrobium or some other huge kit, but like a Freedom Gundam in 1/100 is more expensive than a Strike Gundam in 1/60. Are the 1/100's more detailed? I only have 2 Gundam kits, a strike and an Exia. And they're both 1/60. I'd like to get a 1/100 just out of pure curiosity on why they're more expensive in general.

Hi, 1/100 that are expensive are the MGs. Why? IMHO 1. Very detailed 2. Very articulated, just like the PGs 3. Designs are topnotch and proportional 4. Inner Frame system 5. More gimmicks and if can transform, very intricate 6. Much more complex than the 1/60 scale, almost or like the PGs. 7. Gets even better and better.
These are just some why they are more expensive than the 1/60s.

I actually have a few 1/60 gundams but never noticed if they were cheaper then some 1/100. I can say that the main 1/60 arent based on as many complex gundams as the 1/100s are. Also, exia is newer so maybe thats why it costs more. and are you looking at master grades verses High grade kits? Master grades always cost more and are second to PGs. I would have to look into it closer though if one is more detailed then the other.

The non-PG 1/60th's tend to be just jumbo sized HG's. In fact, the 1/60th Exia was said to be the exact same as either the 1/100 or 1/144th sized models, and the parts were just scaled up to the 1/60 proportions. Though these kits are bigger they're not as intricate as a MG or regular PG model, and have less pieces, which equates to the cheaper cost.

Well , id like to say that I like my 1/60 God Gundam alot more than my MG God Gundam ..it look better on display and i dont feel it is less detailed than the MG , but i dont know about gundams kit much , i just buy the ones i like ,HG always sucked to me they usually very hard to articulate and not detailed at all , but my 1/60 God Gundam can do alot of poses so i dont know if the 1/60 is just a jumbo size HGs...

Vic said it all, the devil is in the details. 1/60's have the size, but for the details and gimmicks and realism, you simply can't beat a 1/100. Of course, unless you go PG.
