Cool -- great score! Did you get the box as well? I used to watch SUPERCAR GATTIAGER on San Francisco's KTSF-26 back on Saturday nights back in the late 1970s! The show borrowed liberally from GATCHAMAN in reference to the characters who drove the Gattaiger (and they even looked like them, too), but the car itself foreshadowed the Gatcha Spartan that appeared several years later in the series GATCHAMAN FIGHTER.

Yep. Got the box and all the accessories. I used to drool over this toy when I was a kid, but mom could only afford to get me the ST version at the time.
We sure did have some great TV in the Bay Area when we were growing up. Plus, I don't think a lot of the kids in the US had the toy opportunities we had with Chinatown and Japan Center in our back yard. Most of the country had to be content with Shogun Warriors and whatever else was repackaged for the US market while I could walk in to a toy store in the city and find a wall of chogokin toys in their colorful packages.

Yeah, we sure had it good -- although the kids in Hawai'i think that they had it better than we did, since the shows were more popular there (but we had less competition in those who were buying the stuff)! ;D

I remember seeing this on display at a store in Japan Town in SF when I was a kid. Boy, did I want it then. I'd still like to have a set. Great score!

If anyone runs across one of these, LET ME DRIVE IIIIIIT! ;D Yeah, the racecar pilots remind me of Gatchaman-- while the cars (combined car, also) remind me of the anime series "Machine Hayabusa"... similar high-speed racing concept on different planets. In The Gattiger series it was the hero supercar against some badass enemy supercars... the way they all combined had that "Battle Of The Planets" monster-beast-ship combining interchanging style to this. I Gotta find the Gattiger series online somewhere if only I can get the original anime title. Damn, I'd luv to see these as JUMBOS! Man, if enough of us (those who have supercar-type toys) post pics like these we could dedicate a category thread to this particular toy genre. Thanks for sharing, guys! zozo-Magengar

Well, guess what I found! www.demonoid.com/files/download/2151177/22326682a torrent for the series " Supercar Gattiger"..... Browse that page downwards to see the full-blown information about these files. I think it's in Italian dub. But if the audio streams are duo (Japanese, and Italian) perhaps we could somehow demux (or Mux, i dunno the term) the Italian audio from it (for those of us who'd wanna keep the Japanese audio) and translate it for subtitling. Otherwise, just watch the action and enjoy! ;D Here's the Japanese version Opening theme (youtube)... zozo-Magengar

Here is the Gattiger SuperJet. Supercar Gattiger launches from the lower center of this vehicle.

I'm still downloading. I don't wanna start watching until my download is complete. That way I won't spoil myself.
The first time I ever watched racecar animes was the "Machine Hayabusa" series back in '78 around Christmas time in NYC... then on Christmas morning that year, my Great Mazinger jumbo arrived under my tree...
That's what I find so special about this particular anime genre... seeing these colorful toy cars brings back that Christmassy feeling from those days.

Congratulations on finding one in very nice condition....and with the box as well. Hopefully I'll find one someday. As of right now I only have the car, in ok condition, with no box. Until then, I will continue to search!

Hi, it's interesting to find this thread at the top of this forum. I specifically signed up so that I could ask about the Gattiger. I'm in the process of selling off a bunch of childhood toys and I found this one in the attic. I haven't found a lot of information on the Internet about it, so I was hoping that some of you nice folks here could help me out. I'm basically looking for information about the Gattiger, what it might be worth, etc. It's never been out of the box in all the time I've owned it. My parents got it for me a long time ago, but I never bothered playing with it. The section on the far right, which looks empty, is for, I believe, a poster, which I do have. Here's a couple of pictures of mine;

Beautiful set you have! I suggest sending a PM to one of the members posting in this thread for more detail on pricing, etc. Thanks for the pics. Do you have any photos of the book inside? That looks cool.
One ID thing, if you look at you outer box picture, in the lower right, you'll see the manufacturer's mark: double "TT" in a diamond shape. For "Takatoku" of Japan. Looks like you have a Japanese release box, and not the European box release? I don't know them well. Sketcher can jump in I'm sure.
If you'd like to list for sale, there is a great "For Sale" section of the forum, that get's a lot of traffic.
