I just bought a Helldiver RT and I was thinking of buying one of the Brocken RTs to complete my Patlabor family. I don't watch the shows, so I don't know whether the OVA version or the TV version was more badass.
Any Patlabor fans can give me a good suggestion? I'd love to get the 'definitive' version.
I was sorta leaning towards the red a bit more because my Patlabor RTs are so drab and colourless, and was thinking perhaps the pinkish red would brighten up the family.

bro cedar, both are badazz but if you can get a hold of the red exclusive brocken, then get that one to complement your ingrams. if not, the blue ones are not bad either coz they are (well, slightly) more detailed in colors (elbow, hands, back.etc) (imagefromGA)i hope that helps. By the way am new here.

He's right - both Brocken variants are identical except for the colours. Also, the blue one has more colours while the red one is... pretty much all red. And anyway, as a long-time fan of Patlabor myself, I prefer the one that appeared more often: the blue one. Whenever Schaft Enterprises was up to no good in the TV series, there they'd be with a bunch of blue Brocken mecha causing trouble. I've only seen the OVA episode featuring the red Brocken once so I can't even remember what it was about. Ultimately, they're the same toy (they even come with the same piece of metal-pipe-debris as an accessory). So really, ask yourself, what's your favourite colour: red or blue? Now... while I'm at it on a Patlabor thread: Organic/Kaiyodo, where is my X-10 and Phantom mecha?!

I can easily get either colour, thanks for your input guys! I've decided to go with blue. Thank you very much Ben-Ohki.
On the subject of Patlabor RTs, Helldiver has two heads w/ different coloured visors. When does he use which one? Also, are Helldivers a troop unit or an individual character? I presume they are good guys backing up the Patlabors?

Helldivers are the standard issue mecha of the JSDF - they are military rather than civilian police. You see them in action during the openning scenes of the first movie. In the TV series they pop up from time to time whenever Noa uses her military contacts (her friend at the JSDF is a Helldiver pilot who constantly bugs her about enlisting).
As for the toy, the black visor is the "normal tinted lens" and I'm guessing the brighter one is intended to represent a night-vision mode or something. I don't seem to recall ever seeing this in the anime.

I'm sad that the Phantom gets no love. It hasn't gotten any love since the original Bandai plamo line . It's an awesome design.

Maybe we'll see the phantom at the 3.0 reboot? They already have Broken and Patlabors mold. So just milk the whole 'licence' thing then. I hope this phantom gets some loving as well, besides the Getters and the over merchandized GL.

yeah but i thought they ususally stick with a line then when they are done with it they move on. If i remember correclty the made the last patlabor figure a while ago so I doubt they will go back. thats what Im thinking anyway.

I'd agree that Kaiyodo does usually move on to a new line, especially after so much time has elapsed. However, there are no less than two fully painted prototype figures that have been displayed at shows, that have not been released yet...
I'd having a hard time locating the images at the moment, but one was an armored vest version of the Patlabor, the other was either a Taisyo or a Hercules (as I recall)...
There was also a Votoms ScopeDog figure (yes, it clearly used Revoltech joints) displayed in the case along with the unreleased Patlabor figures and a bunch of released product...
So, not saying that these will ever see the light of day, but they do exist in prototype form...
