In light of discussions in the "Black Gainer" thread, I decided to make a new thread to attempt to figure out where Revoltech is headed. In light of the discussions there, it became apparent that both Enkidudu and the black variation of Overman King Gainer are both planned as magazine exclusives, not releases in the regular Yamaguchi line. That leaves us with no (known) planned releases for December. What's going on? Has the Revoltech line lost sight of it's core series in the wake of 2G, Fraulein, Hokuto no Ken, Street Fighter and Assemble Borg? In my opinion, the regular Yamaguchi series is by far the best of the lines. Further, what's the nature of the Revoltech 3.0 'REBOOT?' Apparently both Revoltech and Fraulein are going 3.0 early next year, but what does that even mean? And what's up with all the exclusives? Two new figures as magazines in the beginning of 2009, Haruhi with a Wii game, four Haruhi "busts" (with accessories) come with different magazines, more Yotsuba@ exclusives than you can shake a stick at...and that's only what we know now! Argh! *Edit: somehow I forgot Assemble Borg on the list >_>

Well it feels sucks that Black Gainer and Enkidudu is now Magazine Exclusive. I mean really?
And i kinda agree with you about the yamaguchi series, to me they are the best line. I mean c'mon all kaiyodoo have to do is make the QC better. . . and then BAM more fans . . . Why i am telling this? because i think Revolution and Fraulien series have a better QC than the Yamaguchi.
Heck when i open my YF 21 it's totally messed up . . . it's right bicep painting is kinda brocken, and there's a glue marking at its left shield . . . i mean WHAT THE???
And when they making the QC better they use it for EXCLUSIVEEEE ! ! ! GRRR . . .

hell whats up with the exclusive SRW figures that you can only get if you live in JP or have several hundred to spend on ebay! I wonder how this will get distributed for i know a store that specializes in Japanese magazines and such, wonder if they will be getting these exclusives as well.
I dont know about the QC with revelotech the last one i recived (Full metal panic mehca) had very loose joints as opposed to thier usually hard as hell to bend joints.
I think they are trying to compete with figma figures which could expalian the recent surge of figures over mecha. I hope they contiue thier mecha line and get off of GL's D*** already and move on!

SRW figures oow . . . i know that too man . . . we share the same pain here.
Well i'm a GLs fan since i cant afford konami impact size, revo is kinda a great substitute. And come to think of it, maybe Revo exploit TTGL series because there's no other manufacture made AF of em(except for konami of course).
Ow that FMP mecha is ARX-8 Laevaentin . . . well it's a good action figure but yeah i have a problem with the joint. ARX-8 still in yamaguchi line . . . soo you know what i mean . . .

True you cant get any other action figures of TTGL but still they are milking the hell out of it, i mean common diffrerent accessories are packed in for different chars. when they could of easily included them with the figure. Now we have three versions of enki which i think they could of included conversion parts with just one, and the full drillzed GL could of been an accerssory item as well. I am a little POd about that but the fact they haven't really went to any other mecha in quite some time and now we are getting these Micorman knockoffs (although they are cool as hell and i will be purchasing those) it makes me wonder where they are headed and also long for the good old kotobuya days, they had some awesome figures (though they had fixed posing but almost invisble joints) They were fantastic figures for the collector such as myslef!

I agree that Revo seems to be going up against Figma, but I don't think it should. The human Revoltech figures have always been a little...off. Granted, they've been getting better, but Figma still has a large lead. If Kaiyodo kept Revoltech robot-y, then there wouldn't be competition! The Revoltech robots have a pretty much cornered market on inexpensive decent quality robot figures (which might also explain the recently lower QC). Changing the focus of the line to compete with an unrelated line seems absurd. Not to mention the cost going up in the sub-lines like Fraulein and Hokuto. On a side note, I noticed the Queen's Blade Revos that were recently previewed are on standard Yamaguchi stands, not the square Fraulein stands. Either the stands are changing for 3.0, or they're in Yamguchi...which I don't think they should be. Especially with a subdivision based solely on female characters, I think the Yamaguchi line should be more focused. *sigh*

Might have to look at Bandai for some low-cost but decent quality figures seeing as they are doing something other than just Gundam now.

Well I'm excited about the Eureka Seven Robot Damashii figs coming out, since no one has felt the need to do a decent Nirvash (especially the fully evolved version). Also, Bandai has said that there are 40 Robot Damashii's slated for next year, and while most of them will certainly be Gundam related I'm sure we'll get a good number of surprises.
As for the Queen's Blade Revos, they'll be their own set, since they are not sculpted by Yamaguchi, and if it's not sculpted by Yamaguchi, it ain't a Yamaguchi, regardless of stand.
And finally, I think the Yamaguchi line will be fine despite the break, I mean the guy has been doing 2 sculpts a month for a couple years now, and we don't want him to burn out and call it quits. Hopefully 3.0 will really be something great, and a real improvement over the current stuff, and if they need to take some time with it, I think we should let them.

I haven't studied up much about the Revoltech figures beyond my just having a Mazinkaiser revo. I was impressed, and still am, at Revoltech's debut with the super robot category; and Yamaguchi seriously worked his azz off cranking out that many revo's during his time at Kayiodo...
...I enjoy watching the Revoltechs evolve into other categories and production lines such as I've seen here lately. It's like they've grown so much so quick before I can notice them. I think Revoltech will be around for a good while. As to what other directions Kaiyodo takes to produce more Revo's remains to be seen. I just hope they keep up the momentum and also improve the fine quality and artistic presence of these remarkable little figures. On that note, there'll be something in Revo's for fans of all anime genres.
And, on that last note, here's a toast to a successful new year in 2009 for Revoltech world. 8)

I sure hope they continue with the robot line. the humanoids have unsightly joints, no matter how you look at it.

I bought a Robot Tamasshii last week, the GN - Flag. I thought it was nice, but much closer to a model kit than an action figure, I thought the Revoltechs and the GNU DOU are nicer.
The Tamashii is a bit too flimsy, I think.
