Seeing any Japanese box art as a kid made me salivate with toy envy. The boxes were so good at capturing my imagination and burning themselves into my brain.

OK, this is a tough one for me. I'm a huge fan of box art and to be honest I actually drop loot on stuff just for the box even if the contents really suck. I'm 70's all the way but the early - mid 80's did have some great offerings. I'm not going to gush over the run of the mill stuff that we see often because we all KNOW that those rock. Here are some of my out of the way favs that are lying around right now. Takatoku Gokaiser missile firing vinyl. Not only rare, but very cool to see the art considering the show never made it to the airwaves: Takemi Jumbo Pegas. For obvious reasons.. The toy is even better!!!

In the same vein, there was a really great SOC Mazinga poster that was released based on its box art:

very nice stuff guys, i love it. i'm also a "vintage-box-art-lover". here is a box i like, because it combines many things i like: a window, lots of cool japanese typo i cant read, stylish guys in rubber-suits and you can even could use it... ..open it up...as a display/playset.
