Oh yeah. It's an awesome game, one of the ones I bought a Dreamcast for (when the system was $50... I'm a bit of a late adopter when it comes to console games). I unlocked just about everything in it, too. The Blodia II custom is very awesome.
It'd be neat to find this game in an arcade, but I've never seen it outside the DC.

Yup! I picked it up for the Dreamcast ~ 2 years ago and it's a blast. Sadly, I haven't had an awful lot of time with it but I'm really glad to finally own it and count my collection the better for it.
There are some great video's on youtube in case anyone is interested in checking out the game play, or the opening movies, etc. Well worth your "internet search" time.

rob you'll love that game! I played it in the arcades a lot of fun. But the last boss is CHEAP!!!! I hope one day they'll do a sequal. The graphics are a bit rough to today's standard... but man its fun.

The last boss is beyond cheap, it's true, but it's no worse than the average KOF final boss or Guilty Gear boss, really. The real kicker is that you have to beat him four times on one set of lives vs. the normal two >.<
My favorite characters were Gorai and the Blodia II Custom. I have a weakness for red robots, I guess.

Goldibus isn't anywhere near as hard as an SNK boss, he just has a cheap trick. The finishing moves are freaking awesome! Wish my DC still worked... anyone have a spare?

You can find used but working DCs on ebay for around $25-35 dollars if you're patient. Tech Romancer could feasibly cost you more than the system it runs on (oh man! looking at the prices for it on fleabay, that's a bit ridiculous. I bought it for $7 at Software, Etc. back in the day!)

Software, ETC., man, that brings me back, haven't seen one of those in years. Tech Romancer, my cousin might have a copy. The thing with the DC is that the boot sector was leak, my cousin was able to make copies of all the DC games, even the ones from Japan. THe DC was really cool, go it just before the PS2 came out and never bought a single game for it. My cousin was able to get VCD movies files to self boot onto the DC and SNES emulator, Sega Genesis Emulators, all on CDR's. THe best thing about the DC was that no mod chip was needed.

Still have a copy but haven't played it in a long while, but still it was great during those DC days.

Actually had to hunt this game down, I drove over an hour and half to pay double FMV for it. Played it and was anti-climactic. Well, maybe I expected a whole lot more from it, considering the drama I had to go through to get it. My DC rarely gets turned on nowadays, I would say the last time I turned it on was about a year ago, when I was testing it. To be completely, honest, I would have to trace out the wiring, I don't think I remember how it was plugged into the entertainment system. LOL

I just had a chance to play Kikaioh again recently, and does anybody notice that Simon Harvard, the pilot of Raf*ga looks a lot like Michel Blanc from Macross Frontier (he looks like a grown up Michel if he had survived). They even pilot similar type of mech that can transform between battloid, gerwalk and fighter mode!
Was Shoji Kawamori involved in any way for the design of the game's mech or characters?

Ah. No wonder the designs are familiar. Thanks for the heads-up Otaru!
