All right, finals are finally out of the way, so now we can get back to important stuff!
I've taken a handful of images of the metallic Gurren Lagann from the 2008 Summer Wonder Fest in Japan. I was lucky enough to finally find one for a reasonable price, and I wanted to share a few images with my friends here at RJ. You guys are the only people I know who care about this stuff!
Please bear with my image quality. I'm working with a measly 4 megapixels and one lamp (sometimes with a flashlight to soften shadows) for lighting. I might buy a new camera after Christmas...these are maybe a little more thought out than last time, but still kinda so-so
Anyway, let's get started!
The seller included the Gurren-dan logo tote and Revopliers, which was pretty cool. Here's everything that was included:
Note that the Gurren Wing was included (kinda hard to see, the wings are still in the bag in this photo). This is a really great addition to the figure. Maybe Kaiyodo should have done this with the original figure ( ). There isn't a 'brain head' helmet-less Lagann though (aww).
Here's a closeup of the Gurren Wing with the one for the regular version (assembled from Lazengann and Enki). Note the color difference, the Wonder Fest version is on the left:
The ends are less orange and more of a metallic yellow-gold, which is very nice. The medium gray is quite a bit darker and slightly metallic also, which makes the drills really stand out and look great.
Onto the main attraction!
The metallic finishing is a huge improvement over the unpainted red from before. He has so much more...presence. The QC is really good too (at least on mine). You can really tell on the blue-green linework around the mouth.
I think the regular Gurren Lagann is a little jealous.
The three brothers:
Vs. Impact Model GL (Round One, Fight!!!)
And finally, A quick shot of the whole Revoltech Gurren Lagann Family (so far, at least). Sorry, Lazengann, I didn't mean to cover your face
Looks like Figumate Kamina, Simon, and Lagann ran in the shot at the last minute. Oh well, it wouldn't have been fair for Yoko to be the only human there, right?
Let me know if you guys want more shots of anything in particular!
