How do you rank the metal Gundams? I know there are a few styles of "metal included" series. My hope is to figure out which one is bubbling to the top of desireability.

The Fix Figuration Metal series are quite awesome. Excellent sculpt and poseability. There are three main variants out currently (RX-78, Psycho Gundam and Psycho Gundam II), with Zata plus coming in on March 2009.
The smaller Gundam are 1:100 Scale, while the larger Gundam are 1:144 Scale. Can't go wrong with this one.
About the GQ Gundams, the metal content is quite limited, it has a history of yellowing, and on my specimen, the joint housing on the crotch has apparently cracked, without any apparent reason. Bad build quality.
Stay away from these (there are only three variants of the Impulse Gundam fron SEED-Destiny anyway)!

Agreed regarding the later "MMM GQ" Gundams.
But the first two "MMM" Gundams from are BEAUTIFUL. The Strike Gundam and Launcher & Sword Strike Gundams are completely different toys from the later "GQ" toys. Same scale, but entirely different construction.
Rather than have a plastic top on metal legs (as with the GQ's), these feature an all-metal moveable frame from head to toe. Then, you affix the plastic bits to the frame to form the exterior shell. The plastic is of much higher quality, is glossy not painted, and DOES NOT YELLOW.
Being all-metal, these figures are HEAVY AND SOLID. Much heavier than the Metal Composite FIX Figurations.

In terms of ranking, I'd say the Metal FIX rank higher in displayability, but the heft of the original MMM's when you handle them is tough to argue with. By comparison, the Metal FIX feel a little fragile. (I'm sure they're not, but they just feel that way, relatively.)

Yeah, I also got the MMM Turn A and it is one of my favorite chogokin toys. It's got a ton of detail and is pretty posable, also the leg fins are TITANIUM- which very cool and unique! They're also pretty easy to find.
No one has mentioned the Kadou Senshi figures either... I have the Char Zaku, Rx-78-2, Hyaku Shiki, and Green Divers Amuro Zeta... love them all, though the Hyaku Shiki by far has the most amount of metal. He's also the most posable of them all as well. But the Gundam and Zaku are alot of fun as well, Zaku has more metal than Gundam, I think. Zeta, lacks in alot of ways, he's kind of hard to get into some poses and doesn't feel like he has much metal in him.

Oh, I forgot to answer your question Admin1. Since it is the most rare and has the most metal content, I would have to say that the Metal Grade RX-78 is the most desirable for me! ;D

Strike Gundam and Launcher & Sword Strike Gundams (with the transparent version) are the only 3 metal Gundam that I would consider having. I am not sure with the newest one that just released.

I have both of the MMM Gundams, 2 of the 3 GQ Gundams, and most of the Kido Senshi line. I also have the Hyaku Shiki, ZZ, and Zeta and the GFF Metal Composite RX-78. The GFF MC is beautiful but not as much fun to play with as the GQ and Kido Senshi. I really love the Hyaku Shiki and ZZ which are well-executed and great for playability. I haven't had the problem with the yellowing (yet) with my GQ's.
