I'm with a lot of you guys.
Why EVAs?!
They have been done to death.
I am torn between the Tamashii and revoltech AS units. I think I am leaning toward the revoltechs, because I find revoltechs to pose and hold poses easier. I am willing to listen to arguments to the contrary.
I liked Zegapain and am glad to see it getting some attention, but I think it would be better served with more model kits than action figures. There has only ever been one kit with an LED gimmick, continuing that line makes more sense.
I was psyched at the possibility of SRW, those $200 volks full action figures are way too pricey for most collectors.
While they are at it they should expand tamashii to some of the franchises that have gotten little to no attention:
GunXSword Godannar Gaogaigar (doing a proper figure of some of the secondary characters would be sweet.) Aquarion sounded like a good idea etc...
I thought that some of the CE gundam suits would be a nice change of pace too.
All together this lineup seems like a slight disappointment. There are some good choices but, some clear bandwagon (or should I say moneywagon) decisions. The EVAs get a head-palm, and everything else gets a nod or a meh. Not the great cheer of excitement I was expecting.

Ha i didnt even realize that was a silver "The End" hell that never even happend in the anime!! what a bunch o crop!!
The little carrier is cool but should of just been included with the figure..... i do think its suppose to come with other things but its a pass for me unles there is a kickass blade in there or something.
But yeah, why eva i mean really....... i huge part of me thinks they already had plans for these things way before they did the poll...... zegapain wasnt even one of the choices i dont think (and isnt it licensed by bandai anyway). I mean think about it, in order to do some of the characters they mentioned they would have to get the rights first and some kind of deal with the originators and I would assume that would take time. So I think they had been working on something for a while (not to mention the development of sculpts of the figures in the first place). Sooooooooo i call bandai SHNINANIGANS!!

At the end of the anime The End becomes white/silver, just before dying...but it's an easy repaint...like will be Ray's LFO, I think Charles and Ray LFOs share a board together at a moment...

I have no Eva-2's.... this is the first one I've EVER liked, so I say bring it on!! Of course, I'll still pick up Eva's 1 and 3 still, because I'm sure they'll be more fun to pose and stuff than the Revoltechs.
Zagapain looks really cool, too.... Still no old timey Super Robots though, that's a bummer.

To counter point your Revoltech pose argument, every time I try a really dramatic pose with my Revol's they'll hold the pose for a good while but eventually the same thing happens... they fall down or the joint gets warped to the point where it won't go back to the original neutral pose. When they fall down it takes a while to get them to stand up again with out use of the stand. I don't really like to use my display stands unless the character is doing a flying pose. I don't like it if a figure can't stand on it's own in a neutral position- and I have had this problem with several of my Revoltechs even right out of the box- Black Getter, Tetsujin 28, the original Eva 1. It's a shame too, because I really love how varied the Revoltech series is and I think they are great toys and have no intention of dropping the line or getting rid of the ones I do have, but I do think the playability of Robot Damashii is alot better. So far, the RD's I have have been able to take pretty much everything I've tried with them. The fact that the foot is made of 2 pieces helps alot and the amount of articulation is great too. Non ratcheted joints also means that you can get some positions that Revoltechs just aren't capable of too. The problem with RD's is that some figures are really great, some are lacking. There were alot of criticisms on the Nirvash since it had a high PVC content and also some of its joints were floppy or fragile. I did have a little problem with that, but since the pieces were reattached easily, it was more of a minor annoyance. And the Arios Gundam is supposedly hands down the worst of the bunch. With something like the FMP robots I think I would prefer the RD's since I could get alot more action out of them. I should be getting the Arbalest any day now, so I will post a review of him up and let you know how the quality is. I'm with a lot of you guys. Why EVAs?! They have been done to death. I am with you on many points GPA and I love RD to death despite the massive criticisim they got initially (and no one even owned one lol). I havent had any problems with mine and i dont think arios was that bad he just didnt have a lot going for him to begin with, kinda the same with Flag custom 2!
I am upset with how the quality changes from figure to figure in RD though, so far the best are Gundam 00, Gundam 0, Savree, Crossbone gundams (Garrazo and Gadessa runner ups)... these guys are great and have lots of articulation...... almost all of the other figures have some point ommited or some part/s pvc....... i dont know why there is an inconsistancy between figs...... I mean i know why the main gundams get special attention but still why not all the figures, its not even that there is that much a difference in price (except for E7 for some reason).
Anyway, still love the line and some of the best action figures out there for the price and the looks (next to banapresto anyway lol).
Now....... I have always said that Revlotechs should be in a different league...... they arent fully action figures and closer to moveable statues. Though they are definitely closer to the action figure side of things, they just dont have such free range or rather, ease of movement. But you can get some really kickass stylized poses out of them...... only thing, you gotta manipulate the hell of them. I mean damn, any figure that has directions just to get a certain pose, is kinda crazy lol.
I have always labled revlos as rubic cube statues. Still, they are the most stylized of the bunch, and the poses they are capable of can be pretty hard to produce with other action figures........ it just takes work to do so, and no most cant stand without a stand (which at least they had the right mind to include one unlike RD). And also, for the most part especially the more recent releases, their is a consistency with quality and articulation points.
One more thing, I dont know about the floppyness of revlotech, I have had figures for years and never expierenced a problem personally. However, i dont know what some of you guys do with these lol, but i did buy some used revlos not too long ago and they were not as tight as the ones i have. So may they dont with stand repeated poses, i dunno , because mine are in tip top shape!
Any, i think revlotechs are in thier own league...... i like em...... just want megaman zero!! lol

Yeah, I guess the floppiness thing is a rare occurrence, but it's happened with a few of mine, unfortunately. My Megatron, Starscream and Yotsuba all have troubles going to a neutral pose. Black Getter has problems doing anything without a stand, and my Revo Mini Eva 00 is pretty much useless and has to be in a crouch all the time.
A good majority of them are standing the test of time though, and I feel bad that I haven't dusted them in a month or two.

Hmm I got arbalest and I must say Im pretty dissapointed with the quality of this figure. Lots of PVC here and actually some yellowing on the left leg of my figure right out the box!! He just looks cheap! The color is like an off white but just looks it was slapped on. From what I seen Arbalest is more gray then white....... it just doesnt look right on this figure. Articulation is pretty good here though especially in the waist. However the armor gets in the way a bit. Arbalest comes with the usuall set of accessories people have come accustomed to; shotgun, small dagger, larger combat knife, and replace parts for overdrive version. He has one accessory no other version has yet and thats the knife in the mouth. Its a switch out face plate that already has the small dagger in place.
I really think this version is a tad much at 35 seeing how poor the qaulity is in the paint department. I must say that Alter's version is 100X better. And, actually has more articualtion then RDs....... of course it costs almost 4X as much so I guess this is one of the cheapest ways to get a completed version of Arblaest (mode lock is the cheapest but requires paint, however its just as big if not slightly bigger then RD's)
I think we may fair better with Revlotechs itteration. I belelive they plan on doing the mainstay mecha like RD so I think I will veer more to Revlotech unless RD picks up the slack. Picks to come at some point.

Wow, Mechmaster, Bandai must be slacking in the QC department cause I've heard of alot of problems with this figure! Someone else I talked to had problems with their arm articulation and the joint the arm attached to was too small.
This is a big surprise considering my Arbalest has very nice joints and paint app, and I thought it was a very good figure. Though the one thing I thought was absolutely horrible was getting a single weapons holding hand... that was completely stupid. I think Bandai may have had inside info on the awesome line up Revoltech had for their winter show and probably fast tracked alot of their figures, but there have even been Revol's and SOC's that haven't been that hot, so hopefully they'll put themselves on the right track. I hear the 00 Seven Sword is a true masterpiece....

Yeah I have seven swords on the way, but why would that one suck anyway? 00 was RDs first figure and they really went all out on that one. So, since SS is basically 00 with a few extra accessories, it should be equally as good!
One thing im noticing is that bandai is putting more effort into gundam side of RD (which is understandable) as the other non gundam figures dont seem to get the same treatment. Most gundam RDs have tons of ABS but the other lines like eureaka 7 and now FMP get a ton of PVC and they increased the price (for e7 anyway).
I love RD but I am dissapointed that there isnt a standard with the line. Some figures get more attention then others even in the gundam figures.
I havent had problems perse with Arblasets articulation, though they could of did a better job in the hip and shoulder departments, but the asthetics of it...... and yeah the one weapon hand is stupid..... I dunno it just looks cheap and like it was rushed but the thing is they were announcing this months ago. Plenty of time to make things right if you ask me. I mean the photos look way better then the figure does something to be expected from american manufactures not JP toys...... I was just expecting a bit more when compared to others in the RD world. And really whats up with all the PVC all of the sudden, did they need more ABS for the gundam modles or what?

Surprising looking at that picture how small the Alter version is. For a while I was kicking myself for bit getting it... I think I'll be happy enough with my Damashii now...

Ohh man..Ray and charles LFO's.. They were so good to Renton almost treating him as their real child.. so sad.
I agree goldarak, i hope to see them ride the doubleboard.
