Hiya bros,
I have recently received an offer for the Bandai 1/60 Gundam F-91 (I believe that's the half toy and half model figure). Can anyone who have the product share their thought and opinions about this product?
BTW, the vendor that offers me the product sets the price at approx US$ 45.5. Is this a good price?

If it has a blue and silver box It is quite nice. I used to have it and before we had all the new HG gundams it was the best toy to its date. -Quite nice and its size is around 11" in height.
-Big box too.

P.S. It was going for over $100 at its peak price.....if we are speaking of the same toy. Maybe a picture is in order.

I dont remeber how much i paid for mine but it is a pretty cool toy and looks more like one then a model. the stickers are cheap looking and the toy is super plasticky looking. Considering that most 1/60 go for around $50+ its a good price, and the fact that is kinda rare these days. here is a pic of mine.

I've got this one as well. I have 2 of these the 1st I bought for $150CDN Then I so one at a local store for $30 [needless to say I couldn't pass that up] I believe that this is one of the best Gundam 12" DX out there only 2nd to the 1/48 V gundam (which is the absolute best) The only gripe I have with this figure is how the hips and upper legs turn slightly yellow. As you can tell from the picture the yellowing is quite apparent. Mind you it really isn't that bad in person, or perhaps that's what I'm telling myself. I haven't opened the other one I have in storage hoping that that's prestine white. Although not apparent in the plastic used, this toy's quality is top notch from the spring loaded openning fins to its accessories such as hidden shield pockets etc.

Thanks all for the heads up!
Ed, I think I'm offered the item that's on your tisinc99 link.
So it comes complete with bazooka and the beam shield too? Awesome. Looking forward to pick up this baby then (nice panel lining, mechamasterj). So what do you guys think about the plastic quality of the armor panels and the internal skeleton? Can you compare it to the materials of more recent release of DX Gundams such as GP-01fb or Sazabi?
Since Lurker mentioned about part yellowing, I presume that the armor panels are not molded in gloss white. Am I correct?

Well the plastic is somewhat glossy [regardless still prone to turning yellow]
As I’ve mentioned its quality is quite good, detailed gimmicks are abundant: opening side armour shield pockets; retractable shoulder fin blades; removable face armour; pop-up opening calve boosters; opening cockpit; individual movable fingers
A few [further] minor things that annoy me about this toy are:
that its hands can not hold its beam rifle properly;
its elbow joints aren’t strong enough to hold most every accessory without collapsing downward;
it doesn’t feel solid.
When you compare it to a later DX such as a the RX-93 it does hold up quite well, in fact were it not for its yellowing I’d be confident enough to say that it surpasses the RX-93 due to its sheer amount of gimmicks.
If Bandai made this the same color as the Stardust Memory and RX-93 US release (off white) then it would have been superior to those.
On a side note:
I had recently found out that all 3 of my Gundam Destiny “metal material” figures have also yellowed.
It really annoys me when Bandai uses this type of plastic for toys. I’ve tried everything under the sun to avoid yellowing but for some reason it just happen. Mind you all my yamato 1/48 valks are still white, perhaps yamato is on to something.
They could probably get away with using this type of plastic for models since modellers are more prone to paint their stuff but for toys?

Its funny because I have had mine for over 7yrs now and no yellowing in site, the same for my GQ metal strike figures (which have better plastic then F91). Maybe you are in a different enviorment, or i am just lucky.
You are right about the 91 not being able to hold most weapons in a stylish fashoin (which is why mine is posed like that). but it is a decent 1/60 model. I dont remember how the inner frame is though, but i know the fins can easily pop out. However if you are looking for a superior version but smaller get the 1/100 MG version which has way more detail and the gimmiks, but probably a little less durable since it is 100% a model and not a toy unlike this one. Of course I have both so i am happy lol

Maybe you are in a different enviorment, or i am just lucky. I don't think its my environment I've had the Turn A MM as well as the 1/72 DX V Gundams, I also have the Bandai Cloth 1/60 Patlabor & a DX God Gundam those didn't turn yellow. I think I recall reading that other RJ members experienced significant yellowing on the MMM Destiny & this F91. I was really surprised with the Gundam Destiny MMM it started with one of them having a yellow tinted right knee (right off the box) then a few years later all 3 are stained yellow. Mine were probably made with a "bad" batch of plastic. Its really too bad cause all of them are great pieces to have in a collection

Man those are some awesome stuff you listed there wish I had the V gundams and Patalabor!!
I guess i was lucky and got good on both.
I will say your right the GQs are too good to pass up (though I heard that the Impulse line suffered from poor QC) I guess you could go with the deactive verson which is greyish blue, and have no fear of yellowing (i have that one as well!). But its hard to come across now without paying some crazy price!

Lurker, my GQ MMM has yellowed as well. And there has been report from other toy board about similar cases, so I don't think you got lemons. It's just the plastic in the MMM GQ line is more prone to yellowing. Too bad, tho, I quite liked the figures. And for no apparent reason, I recently found that one of the socket of groin joints has cracked.
Maybe the MMM GQ line is jinxed...
About the F-91 fingers not holding the weapons well, I guess that's how it is with articulated hand. The DX Wing Gundam with articulated fingers can't hold his buster rifle well either. I wish that Bandai would just include one set of PVC hand for guns like the Sazabi or GP-01fb.
And I noticed that although the scale is 1/60, the F-91 is still smaller than most of the DX Gundams, which is correct of course, since in scale, the F-91 is smaller than most Gundams (15 m compared to 17 - 18 m).
I'm so getting this then.

I'm working slowly on converting my 1/60 F91 to look like the MG F91. A lot of modification. I will be casting the parts in resin. I will also add fiber optics in the head, beam rifle and shield. The bazooka will have to go. I will modify it like the new MG counterpart. Once I'm done, I'll post it here.

I'm so getting this then. Congrats on your future F91 I hope my posts contributed in encouraging you rather than detering you from getting it because that was really my intent. Despite its flaws the F91 is a great Dx To me there really isn't any "bad/ avoid at all cost" Bandai Gundam Dx, you can't go wrong with any of them, kind of reminds me of the takatoku macross Valks without the metal. If you haven't already try the Gundam Mk II academy DX (bootleg) nonetheless pretty amazing scaled at appox 1/48 along with its quality on par with Bandai's ;D

Hey, I'm all in for large 10" + Gundam figures that I don't have to build myself (except for a small dose of panel lining here and there)!
What I can't stand about model kits are that they usually don't come out the way they supposed to look on the boxes...and they're too fragile for a healthy romp around the house.
