Hi, I'm new to this site. I was a fan of Japanese Robot toys as a boy, but sold off my collection when I was about 18, that was back in 1986. The only one I kept was my favourite, a small scale Jaguar Vulcan, which my Mum kept safe for me while I went travelling. Now I am 40, married, kids etc I stumbled upon the amazing Gashapon toys and I was able to collect all of my old toys but this time in a micro size. I now have a large collection of toys, that fits into a small IKEA CD shelf in my office. (My kids drool over them but they are MINE! Ya. a. aahhh!!) Here are some pictures -

Great pics, you have alot of fun stuff. Can you tell me how you like the gashapon Popynica Voltes V set? I'm looking at one on ebay right now, but don't know if it's worth fifty bucks.

Fortunately the exchange rate wasn't as aweful when I got mine. My opinion of the toy is this: OOOOOMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG! ITS AMAZING!!!! The detail is unbelieveable, and it's so small. $50 is a lot of money, but the figure takes pride of place on my little shelf. I really love the Gashapon toys, I think I've got almost all of Popy ones now. It means that I can have a huge collection of Popy toys in a tiny space, it's subtle and they are great fun!. I used some for my kids christmas crackers and they went down a treat. I wish they'd bring out a Bullmark collection, of the big DX machines. If they do I'm buying. ;D Here's a picture of a base I made for my kids (and me) to mess about with.

Awesome. $50 seems to be about the going rate for the THE Chogokin release, which is a scaled down ST figure, so for the same money it seems like more fun to get the miniature DX version.

THE Chogokin is the Bandai reissue line that came out after the gashapons I believe... they're like 3/4 size reproductions of mostly the early figures like Mazinger and the Getter Robo set, and Raideen and Robocon and ST Voltes and Combattler. HLJ has listings for them, including the Getter Trio for pretty cheap.
EDIT: Can you tell me how much of the gasha Voltes is diecast?

None of it is metal i'm afraid, it seems to be made of a rubbery plastic. It's surprisingly durable considering the size and detail. - hmmm $50 does seem a lot, but still it is the best Gashapon I have come across by far. I recently got 2 versions of the Combattler Gashapon. This is the larger one (I was a bit dissappointed with it as it is far too fiddly and doesn't fit together too well):

That's a very nice base you got. Did you made it yourself or did you have a template?

Pretty cool custom Combattler V base. I have two of those set as well, yeah it's kinda fiddly, parts have the tendency to pop off. This version of the Combattler V is very similar to the SOC GX-03 version. You should look into getting THE Chogokin GT line.
