I knew you were doing this, but seeing it always blows me away. The fact that you always add your own customization to it. Most of us talentless guys, just hope to be able to make something that looks like the pictures on the box. But a pro like you just wont settle for that. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to see the finish product. BTW, have you ever though about producing a magazine or book, of all your customize model kits?

@supergetterv: Thanks! Sorry if only i'm a professional on what i am doing, I'll make one, but im not, hehe! So updates w/ my 90%-ready to paint SRWOG kits. Will paint first R-1, then R-2 Powered, then Alteisen. Dygenguar will wait for a while since i am still looking for some good metallic paints around. Can't find Alclad acrylics here. So some pics... Modified the elbow joints for greater ROM (from 90 deg to 130 deg) thanks to spare polycaps from my gundam kits. Installed balljoints for the hips w/ 360 deg rotation, extension of the torso by pla-plates, and modified knee articulation. You can't do this w/ the OOB R-1. Actually, his articulation is really bad. My fully poseable Alteisen. Can't do the pose w/ the OOB Alteisen or A-Nacht. R-1 still transformable. That's all for now, will update later! Thanks for viewing guys! vic01

Awesome stuff! As an aside, I love the R-2 Powered kit. One of the most solid feeling and nicest out-of-the-box SRW kits I've built.
Can't wait to see the finished works.

Thanks guys! And welcome miasong! mechamasterj: They are made by Hobbybase, and Wave option parts. I got them from ebay. Here is the pic how it look like... Within the week, I will paint these... R-1 and R-2 Powered Alteisen and WeissRitter Here is the mod I did for the Weiss-chan Cut the torso to add ball-joint articulation and make it more sexy like its pilot, Excellen. Pla-plates used. Installed a polycap The torso parts. Will update again! Thanks for viewing! vic01

Has PersonLichkeit been released? Toy wave has it in stock though every other place has it on preorder. Can someone confirm this?

well it appears you are right, but HS usually gets items first. they are cheaper then HLJ too but only ship EMS so you end up saving nothing and paying more (unless you want it that badly in the first place.)

Yeah, Personlichkeit was released two weeks ago, I just bought mine last week. Ok, I am almost done w/ the 3 SRWOG kits but last week, here are some pics I did... I am building/painting the 3 at the same time, saves time but makes you busy. Alteisen is almost on the go! I like how the red turned out, I didn't prime it, just straight paint on the blue plastic and the red turned in darkish color. 1/144 Koto Alteisen and 1/144 GFF Frame model RX-78-2 Gundam 3 more days, I can finish the Alteisen, R-1, and R-2 Powered. vic01

Great Mods! As an intermediate builder, your posts have really got me thinking about a lot of possibilities.
I have a request.
If you have the time and inclination, could you give a step by step description of your articulation mods? What you have already given is great.
Particular advice like:
What type of joints to use for which part in this or that situation. What kinds of tools, glues, and putties you prefer. How to make a joint solid enough to support a large portion of the weight of the kit. etc...
would be invaluable to me.
Or if you do not have the time or inclination to answer such elementary questions, do you know of any sites or YouTube videos that have good tutorials for articulation mods? I have searched and turned up a lot for building and painting but not so much for modding.
I have a large collection of un-built kits, having recently gotten back into collecting. Your mods are exactly the kinds I want to make to some of my kits (In particular the 1/60 Strike Gundam with Striker Weapons System I just received seems to need quite a bit of modding to make it more poseable). I get the basic ideas. But detailed tutorials with step by step instructions are a big help in avoiding careless mistakes which could potentially cause a lot of headaches.
Thanks a lot.

Haha! thanks mechamasterj! I love articulation and proportions. ultramagnus: Thanks alot! It's my pleasure to teach a thing or two... Balljoints --- I used the Hobbybase Yellow Submarine Balljoints, Wave option parts. (pic on the 2nd page of this thread). I also use spare parts from my Gundam kits. So NEVER try to dispose your Polycaps and unwanted parts. Those are very useful. Glue--- Any CA glue like Krazy glue, etc. Putty --- Tamiya Putty Quicktype and Milliput Smooth surface. Hobby Knife --- Xacto blades Saw---- Tamiya Razor saw Sorry, I don't have pics on how I did the mods on my Alteisen, and R-1. I will show the other mods on my remaining SRWOG kits. Alteisen mods: 1. Used double balljoints for the shoulders. 2. Slimmed down the torso (white part) by cutting and reducing the middle part vertically and glued back w/ putty inside. Balljoints installed to connect the upper chest and balljoint on the waist. Take note the original 1/144 Alteisen has no waist articulation and looks fat, just check some reference pics of Alteisen. 3. Installed balljoints on the front and sideskirts for higher ROM. 4. Modified the hips joint by using a tight and better balljoint w/o using polycaps. Koto Alteisen uses no-good polycaps on the hip joints, it tends to pop out. R-1 mods: 1. Installed balljoints on the shoulders. 2. Used polycaps of Gundam kits for the elbows w/ a small balljoint. 3. Increased the torso using pla-plates and adjusted the polycap of the waist. 4. Balljoints on the hips. Modified the legs to connect the balljoints. 5. cut some parts on the lower thighs to increase ROM of the knees. 6. Modified the connector of the wings to the shoulder to have an up and down movements. 7. Modified the part for the R-Wing transformation. You'll get to see it when I am done w/ everything on R-1. R-2 Powered mods. 1. None. So far the only OOB kit I did not modify except breaking and cutting some parts for easy painting. I did not make any mods since it is already a great piece. So almost done w/ the R-1 and R-2 Powered. 95% done. 98% done. Weissritter is on the process of painting now. After these 4 models, I will continue finishing the 1/144 Dygenguar. He's been yearning to be finished, haha! He's the one that actually started this all. My upcoming SOC Dygenguar needs his bigger brother. ;D So stay tuned! Thanks for viewing! vic01

thanks vic........well there is only one way to try such things and thats just to jump right in. Ill probably buy a cheap 1/144 and work off of that. sucks that it will cost so much to get the joints.......well not really the price just the fact that it takes over two weeks to get orders from china and such!
Thanks a lot man and keep it up!

Thanks a lot for the information. It is very helpful. I will look forward to any further info you are willing to give as you work on your other kits.
I wonder why there are not any specific online or youtube tutorials for this kind of thing. Or if there are, why they are so hard to find.

Yup, that's right, I used my 2 airbrushes. I also handpaint them but I usually don't like it since Im not good on handbrushing. But for small details, I do handbrush them. If you want some tutorials, youtube has some basics on how-to, I was watching them before I get to learn the basics. Also check the related vids. Naoki, one of my best modeler. I like how he paint models and do some mods. Evry modeler knows him just like Keita. Will help you a lot as those vids helped me to start modeling and painting. Will post the pic of R-1 first, just doing some finishing touches. vic01
