I havent been in the Vintage game long but I'm a big Gatchaman fan (original series) and thought I knew pretty well every diecast vehicle in that series, even the rumoured talk of Jumbo Grip/Eidai G2/G3, but never heard of a color variant - until about 6 weeks ago.
A post was made asking if anyone had known there was a yellow version of the Jumbo Grip/Eidai G1. Well it was news to me and I was pretty interested in it. The post was subsequently deleted, but the cat was out of the bag for me. I never expected to see one anytime soon, let alone own one, but at least I knew about its existence.
A short 3 weeks later a loose vintage lot showed up on Yahoo Japan, and there it was staring at me. The auction pics were grainy, and had I not seen that post I would have assumed it was a repaint or just badly discolored. But I did see the post and I knew exactly what I was looking at... I had to buy it of course.
When it arrived, the idiot(s) who packed the lot decided to just throw everything into a box without any protection for the individual pieces. The yellow G1 suffered some damage to it's nose (in the the auction it was perfect):
Aside from the nose and some scuffs on the wings, the rest of it, yellow paint/stickers and gimmicks, were all in good shape and functional:
Comparing to the white G1, the GACCAMAN stickers are color coordinated to match the paint, and the blue nose looks almost purple compared to the white version
Anyway, it was an exciting discovery for me and just thought I would share. Thanks for looking.
Now I'll just have to look for the Black and Gold version (Ok, Kidding! ;D), just as soon as I put the contract out on the seller for packing so poorly (also kidding...maybe )
Huge thanks go out to Ed, Alen and Erik.
Cheers,
Bill
