VERY cool piece, recca. Things like the little squiggle on the skirt armor; is that a custom decal? Paint masking? If it's a decal, what did you use to make them?

@mmj Thanks, man. I took your suggestion as well! quinjester Thank you very much! I have no idea what that insignia means unfortunately and my research seems to come up empty. Perhaps it's a cursive "Z" ?? I know the PG Zeta decal set comes with one. However, most of the marking on this kit are custom decals from different modeling webstores and such. Other markings, like the warnings and cautions, etc came from Bandai's Hyaku Shiki set. I wish I had an ALPS decal printer, as it seems the only printer that can truly print white as a color I believe. However, I do have some decal paper that I'm going to try out on my inkjet at the first opportunity!

I've been pining for an ALPS printer myself, but I keep reading about dry transfer kits that use regular printers and I keep hoping I'll find someone who's tried one and knows if they work If push comes to shove, I have a friend who has a friend how does custom decals with his ALPS printer for model trains... I'm preparing an art file for my 1/100 Alteisen right now

Having said that, if it's not too secret, I would love to see what those markings like when you have an opportunity. LOL!

It's sort of big picture set up stuff right now. Things like little markings and stripes I haven't even touched on yet, nor have I on sizing. I was thinking I'd do a Gundam Fix style "Showroom" Alteisen (hey, even the Old Iron was new once!) to make it something a bit different from all the other Alts I have ... I'll stop OT derailing your thread now

I've been trying to get something going on my end as well, but I'm not sure how to go about sizing things for markings, etc. Those are gonna look great on one of those models. Stunning! Keep a dude updated!

Yeah, I'm a bit at a loss of how best to go about getting everything the right size, especially with decals that wont be going on flat surfaces. I'm thinking I might take a picture of the part, size it to the correct dimensions in illustrator or photoshop, and adjust the decal layer accordingly to fit. As you can imagine, paying $10 a pop for a sheet of custom decals I'd like to not have to go back and forth with the sizes!

sweet job... Love the paint job. how long would you say it takes to paint that? Thanks, kidchuckle! Yeah, I'd say it took in total about 3 or 4 days total, and only because there was some intense masking on certain areas of the model. There was no shading involved this time which really cut the time down a bit. Had I actually added the pre-shading element, that would have added another couple of days. Although the kit itself is 'partsy' the smaller scale (1/144) helps out too.
