Why would it cost $3000 if the original Popy wasn't even that worth? Just curious.

Why would it cost $3000 if the original Popy wasn't even that worth? Just curious. That's the thing with vintage items, there is no specific price for any given item, it all depends on the supply-demand or how much someone is willing to pay for that item. So prices do vary. Although a price range is oftentimes followed. Regarding the price kim payed for his DX reissue, I really don't know, perhaps we should ask him. But surely the DX reissue is rarely seen than the original DX, so some would consider it a rare piece and perhaps would pay "more" for it. But technically its the same banana with a different box.

But that's sad that someone payed a lot of money for something that was way cheaper later on. I've never seen any Daimos reissue that went higher than $700.

I don't consider it sad that someone pays more than average for something they want. It could be another 6 months or more before another 'insert rare toy name here" shows up in good shape. It depends on budget, how bad you want it and how patient you can be. Last summer I wanted a fairly rare, but not particularly popular toy and it went up to 50k, which was way over my budget for it, so I had to pass. A few months later another one, deadstock, showed up and I got it for only 10k. Maybe I got a great deal, or that other guy paid way too much, but does it really matter? He got what he wanted, and sooner than he would have had he waited. I guess it goes the same for the modern stuff with the pre-orders at full price. As has been stated in other threads, if anyone is in this hobby to make money, you could be in for a rude awakening if/when it's time to sell.

Well said, and I agree with you. But I was talking about on my part that if that happens to me that I bought something that was drastically cheaper than what I payed for a few months or years ago, it's depressing and I think that's a wake-up call especially with the bad economy. I understand the fulfillment and satisfaction of getting your beloved collection, and I felt the satisfaction this past few weeks, but I'll be depressed if I found out that the toy that I bought was way so cheaper if only I patiently waited. That's only my opinion, if others don't care what they pay then I envy them because even I have a good paying job, I still have some financial responsibilities and I can't just toss my money away because I just can't wait.

I find it interesting to note the Eternal releases as being considered extra tough/valuable. For ME....this is me speaking..... I much prefer the first version. I don't find the box art better and often find that "made for collector" versions of products to be immitations of the real/first thing..... That said, that Daimos is tough to come by. It is all in the eye of the beholder/collector

Yes that's what I'm talking about, I think the first versions are the real collectors piece and the next ones are only inspired by the first one.
Of course I would love to have both (I wish), but maybe I'll pay more money on the first one.

It is all in the eye of the beholder/collector Its a unique case indeed, im quite fascinated by it actually. Being a Daimos collector, there isn't really any difference between the reissue and the original, and I would have to agree that aesthetically the original DX box is much more appealing. But owning a Godaikin Daimos, the original Japanese DX and the European version, this is the only missing piece in my DX Daimos collection, so this one is a must have for me. But that's just me.

Ow yeah I agree If you collect Daimos you MUST get it, like me for instance I collected the die-cast Voltes on every versions. Popy yellow elbow, Popy red elbow and my childhood toy Godaikin.
But the issue here is for example, would you pay a higher price Optimus Prime Gi reissue or encore rather than the original MIB Optimus G1? If you collect Optimus Prime get them all but I believe the first versions deserve a higher price.
