Okay, I said I was getting out of this hobby, but chose to hang out with you guys, since you are so cool! That's like a person trying to quit smoking and still hangout with smokers! LOL Some of that may still be true, I am still not feeling it like I use to, but was messing around some real dopey reviews on Youtube (No, Ed, not yours of course, ;D ) so other folks that bored me to tears and stumbled into one guy's reviews; Vangelis. He's a dork inside and out, but he's kind of funny. Anyway, of the things he reviewed was the Kamen Rider The Next S.H. Figuarts figures. Ichigo, Nigo and V3 or #1, #2 and V3...
After watching his dorky, yet informative review, I got tempted and ordered Kabuto, my favorite suit in the mythology. Faiz, comes in a close second, but Kabuto wins hands down...anyway, I digress. I am still waiting for Winston of Anime King's package for that, but I am not very patient so I wondered into Chinatown, here in San Francisco and decided to pick up a couple of these guys. Couple translates to 3! LOL I got Nigo from the Next, Shocker Rider, and the dude from Gundam G Fighter. I told myself that this time I will open my toys to feel good about it. Each of them was not cheap, but not expensive, cost me $29.99 + 9.25% sales tax each, except for the G fighter dude, which was slightly less, $27.99.
I opened Domon Kasshu and he is in a word; badass. Figure stands about 14cm (that's ~6 inches for us, metric illiterate folks.) which is okay, but where it excels is in the articulation. The head has a ball joint so you have articulation 360 deg. in 3 axis, since it also has a separate joint to move the collar area forward and back. The abdomen has a ball joint and the torso is three separate pieces that move independently on ball joints. His arms are on a ball joint at the shoulders, with double jointed elbows and wrist joints. Legs mimick the arms with a ball joint and double jointed knees and ankles. Domon, does not have much detail by nature but Bandai captured his likeness quite well. With the included stand, Domon is quite the poseable figure, it is almost limitless on the poses you can get this figure to do.
Very playable, great display piece, and awesome toy all around. This guy is no box queen, to truly enjoy this piece, you really need to take it out of the package and play! I'll post pictures this weekend!
S.H.Figuarts, S is for Simple (meaning it is in contrast with the SIC line that is anything but simple) H is heroic and Figuarts is a compound word of Figure and Arts, it truly is a work of art. As many things Japanese, it has a double meaning, it is also to be "compatible" with the Souchaku Henshin (SH, duh, lol) line or what HLJ calls Transarmor. Unlike Souchaku, though, these don't have small heads with large helmets or big hands that are not proportioned to the body. It is a very well detailed and balance line of toys.
