Photodump, GO! This is it! Fighting poses are a breeze! The body is amazingly dynamic Bird run! (Or perhaps figure skating) - The lightweight body coupled with the fairly robust joint system means if you can balance it, it can do it. This may change once outer armor comes into question, of course. Iron man pose? No problem. The extremely flexible waist really helps convey realistic poses. -cue adaggio for strings- Limber up... Sitting crosslegged. Easy as pie.

love the pics quin and the poses, im all about articulation and this guy fits the bill, of course im sure he will loose a bit of mobility once armors are on but still color me impressed. And the best thing, they can only get better from here. You go Koto! wonder if these will make bandai respond....hmm

Yes, this figure is definitely designed with articulation and versatility in mind. I'll really be interested to see how much the outer armor kits restrict the mobility. Frankly, even if they cut the mobility in half, they'll still be some of the most poseable sub-$50 models available.
For the amateur robot illustrator, I can see this as being pretty good as a visual guide for drawing mecha poses and the like too, kind of like an artist's dummy.

Dalong has started putting up reviews of the full kits; looks like no decals or anything fancy like color separation, but it also looks like the poseability isn't really compromised at all with the armor, which is pretty cool. dalong.net/review/kotobukiya/fa01/fa01_p.htm

Yeah I already new about the lack of color separation and these would require a bit of painting before they would look remotely like the demo pics, but good to know that articulation isnt compromised much, but I do wonder if we will have armor pieces flinging all over the place...... probably need to invest ins some glue lol

woot got mine today! just messed with the base figure so far and I must say pretty awesome but your definitely right with the some parts being loose. And yeah super poseable though i wish they did something more for the hips but you can still get a decent enough range but no high side kicks for ole FA! cant wait to work on the other figures......hopefully

hmm ill have to work on this pose and yeah the hands suck they need gluing big time.... and whats with half of the ball joints for the hands being to small to fit into the peg holes on the model? You have to use these overly sized ones that will really stretch out the peg hole on the arm! maybe they go with the actual armor kits somehow... more to come.

Hmm.... ball joints? None of the hands should be using ball joints. They all use the post joints from sprue X.

Eheh, no worries! Hopefully you hadn't quite glued the hands just yet, though!

well you nailed that "crossed hands" pose!
and no I didnt glue anything yet, but I guess you could use the ball joints if you wanted to because they fit just like the peg ones.......

I just ordered a couple of frames and another kit from HLJ. In two weeks, I should be in the club.

I just got mine in. The mini catalog in the box promotes some items they have made for a while. A bunch of generic weapons, and base parts etc.. for other mecha. This is a cool idea of allowing you to essentially assemble you own mecha kit from catalog parts. I just want to see what they do as far as armor kits or if they expect everyone to scratch build their armor.

I guess for now you either have to scratch build or mix and match the existing armors some how.

Got my Gourai in the other day; even though I'll be painting it, because of its easily dis-assemblable nature I'll probably do a quick run through on it and post some pics of it just snapped together to get an idea of how the armor effects poseability and solidity.

I may try to take some pics tonight; the kit is pretty awesome looking even when just given a preliminary snap job, but the armor is a bit troublesome. Some parts REALLY don't seem designed to be removed with any sort of ease once they're on (in particular, the waist parts, which I sanded down HEAVILY but they're still locked on there excessively tight), and you really need to glue together the various inner frame components or you'll tear them apart instead of pulling the armor off when you try to disassemble it.
Overall the figure loses most of its waist and shoulder mobility (the legs are surprisingly unaffected) with the addition of the armor, but gains a LOT of extra mass and height. It's a pretty awesome design, for sure. It'll be fun to get it painted and weathered up appropriately.
