So I'm getting an Exia in the mail in a couple days and I want to give it my own personal flair. Nothing fancy, I just want to make the shoulders white, like so: I've never painted a model or figure before. What's the best, safest, and preferably cheapest way to get the shoulder pieces to match the shade of white the Exia uses? What kind of paint should be used? Will I need to prime or topcoat? Thanks!

Hello delta, let me help! ;D Since most of the parts of HCM pros or SHCMs are molded into its colors (plastic), I suggest you just use white spray cans. I prefer Tamiya white or if you have more bucks, get a Tamiya white primer. After spraying the white to the shoulders, apply a topcoat, whether glossy or matt, whatever finish you like. Just spray in one direction, and not too much, wait for a while before you apply another spray (spray paints and topcoat). Show us the finish product when you're done. vic01

All I can add is that if you can remove the shoulders without damaging the figure, do it before painting. It'll be a LOT quicker than trying to mask off the rest of the figure. -Eric

If you can't get that I've had success with Krylon Fusion, it is my preferred White actually.
