" the annoying tank threads that keeps on falling for the Battle Tank were still present"
NO NO NO. the treads falling off is the only think that i hate about the original gx 03 Combattler. how hard was it for bandai to redesign so that the treads does not fall off. i may skip soc 50 just because of that .

I think whoever gets the toy first (any toy)... should always give a little review.... besides we always wait for Gold's reviews :-)... ..BUT if you were the first one who got it-- it is your toy civic duty to give as your impressions...and tell us about diecast, quality of pasint apps...etc etc.. :-) plus lots of pics!! Hehe, that might take a while John, but I'll try to have the reviews for Gx-50 and the Big-O parts up by the second week of Jan 2010. Gold

I got mine today........... A-WE-SO-ME !
I noticed several important things : - you have to be carefull when asssembling the jet #2 with the Tank (shoulders+shest) -> it's easy to scratch the paint on edges (diecast parts)
- pluggin' the head in the shoulder -> you have to push with caution the 2 little plastic parts at both end of the shoulders, then it will recover the shoulder joint and let the "jet-head" wings come in the hole... (excuse my french, cause I am french)...
- the knees got 3 rotation axis : one on the tigh, an other on the leg (same way) and 1 axis is between them to rotate left-right. -> be carefull when bending the legs (with the last axis)... if you bend to the maximum, you will easily scratch the paint on legs, or break the edge corner, if after, you rotate left-right...
I will post pictures about this...
BTW, this version is great, sharp, heavy... the colors are well chosen and glossy on the diecast parts... (one thing : Bandaï shoulded add an articulation axis on the fore-arm, below the elbow or a wrist...)

I can't wait for my to come in the mail! Also it looks like you can remove the wheels and kibble from the back of Com-Battlers arms for a cleaner look. Also there's a third page from gt3ain's link. gamu-toys.info/goukin/gouki/50conv/50conv03.html

Question for those who have one: Do the hips have enough range for a 'sitting' position, or are they as limited as they look in the photos?

They are limited.. it can't sit, but it's enough to give it good stances ! Here are the caution areas of the toys, due to the paint on diecast surface... and pulling out the Battlecrasher (#2) from the Battletank (#3), make me nervous... because of the brand new condition of the item, I have to force a little bit to pop it out !

i used to be as meticulous about such paint chips...that's why I bought 3 of my Voltes V GX-31 -- so 1 is MINT and new... 1 is displayed as roobot and the other displayed in vehicle form....
anyway.... when i get paint chips... i think of them as 'battle scars"... and they give the specific robot the "personal history"... of course that is just me...trying to appease myself so that I don't feel as bad :-)

A toy is made to play with ! I am not a "starwars" dude who got his whole collection in blister, pinned on a wall... ^__^ "BTW, I Have to order a second ex to my collection... any robot has to be displayed with its alternate mode." (I planned an exhibition)

Transforming/Combining robots don't go so well with die-cast, but we'll complain if there isn't enough die-cast in them anyway ;D!

Bandai should make sure there is never metal on metal contact on their "expensive" toy lines. I'm sure they have pretty smart toy designers on their payroll that can come up with metal on plastic contact points.
After all, these are not really toys... they are collectible figures. A toy is something an 8 year old can play around with and not destroy it or deface it immediately. Even the toughest SOC can't take that kind of abuse.

well, when these "toys" were created back in the days. They were marketed and targeted to those "8 yrs old" as playable toy.
Heck, why some of us got drawn into this hobby. Obiously there are some that are meant for display and not to be messed with.
these paint chipping should not happen, and no excuse. Anything that sold over $100 should haven't these kinds of QC problem.

LOL... what was considered a "toy" back in its time, is now a "collector's item" or "specimen" now that the person who owns it is more mature. I probably would've wrecked my toys back when I was a kid; there was rarely an occassion when i wanted to preserve a toy for long periods of time when I was young... it probably would've never lasted so long with me, anyway. I think it's just a matter of one's personal experience with the "toy" or "collector item" or "specimen" (whatever ya wanna call it)... If someone wants to just have it as a display item, or to Play with it- either way is cool... ...I'm sure folks here handle their items with great care. Nothing beats the joy of just Owning the item and gazing at it all the time. As for the design of the toy itself, manufacturers need to continue research as to how some parts interact with others, like metal-2-metal or metal-2-plastic, joints this and that, and such. Paint chips in some areas and parts crack or break in other areas... that all depends on how much and how rough ya handle the item. I never keep my figures posed in any one position for too long. I'd pose them differently at least a couple times a month and wipe them down with a soft cloth, so the moving parts don't get stuck together from settling. zozo-Magengar

Just received mine today and I love it! Com-Battler has always been my favorite out of the three Nagahama stories and perhaps out of all classic combiners. It still doesn't have the articulation in the legs that Voltes does but it's way better than GX-03, also one word of caution but the Chodenji yo-yo's are SHARP ouch! Plus connecting the Battle Crusher into the Battle Tank was tricky, I slid in the front of the Crusher then pushed the back end in. Anyways her's some quick and crappy pictures with Voltes and Daimos, if you notice Com-Battler is slightly larger than Voltes now.

Also I didn't get the coupon for the base since I bought this through Angolz, all that was in there was a piece of paper talking about this new website. www.bandai-asia.com
