I have been on a real retro kick lately, playing the old 8-Bit Mega Man games on an NES emulator. Man, I love the original MM games. Right now I'm trying to beat them all again in their respective order, currently on the final Wily stages of MM3. Those games are so good, despite their simplicity. What's your favorite Mega Man game? I'd have to say MM2 is still my all time fave.

It's not one of the most widely loved, but it's probably the one I played the most and have the biggest soft spot for because it was the first I bought with my own money: Mega Man 5. I'm also partial to MM3, but mostly because it was the only one you could genuinely cheat in (holding right, although maybe it was left?, on the P2 control pad would let you jump the height of the screen and fall into pits without dieing. Awesome).

for me, my favorite megaman game have always been "MegaMan Legends", everything about it is perfect for my taste.. music, character design, 3d render, the gameplay environment..

I am hoping they release MML and Tron Bonne on ps3 download.
I have the MM collection on PS2 and MM9 on Wii. I want to find time to sit down and beat them all in order. I am on MM4 or 5 right now. I think 2 and 8 are some of my favorites. I think 8 did a perfect update to the graphics and cinema while keeping the feel of MM.
BTW, here is an awesome rendition of the MM2 intro.

uhh do megaman x and megaman zx count? lol but of the old ones mm3 was the best to me. challenging, and was one of the longer mm expierences. the dr. robot (or whatever his name was) stages were cool and hard as hell not even counting the willy stages......... and yes you could cheat the hell out of it. like pausing repeatedly everytime you got his so you would take no damage.

Sure I don't see why we couldn't take all MM's into consideration for faves. I am also a fan of the 16-bit MMX games. I think it's probably the only update I've really liked since the original series. Josh, that video with the lyrics is HILARIOUS! LOL

If the X series counts then my favorite has always been Mega Man X4. The first game that lets you use Zero throughout the entire game. And the balance was just right. But for the 8 Bit classic, I like the original game. The remake on the PSP was also super cute, not to mention fun as heck to play, especially with the other characters. Mega Man 2 was special to me only because I owned it as a kid and played it to death. I can easily walk through that entire game without dying once, at times I can go through and entire level without getting hit once. There are so many systems that can run NES emulators making all of these game very accessible. I have the NES emulator on my original xbox, PSP, NDS and on my Wii. And since you can play GC games on the Wii, you can always get the MegaMan collection they release on the GC and play it on the Wii. Oh, forgot about the PC.

actually I love mm zxa!! first ever to let you actually play as the bosses (still dont get all of their moves though). Its something I had always wanted when playing the other games. So you get bosses, 4 versions of megaman, Zero, and the bosses.......... super awesomeness. Also get quests that give you special items and such......... i think it combines the best of all megamans.
Wow to beat the original without getting hit is impressive because the original is the hardest one if you ask me.
