I wish they'd make one based on the original Tezuka design.

I'm with mechamasterj. I'm not a fan of the movie version of Astro at all. If this was the Tezuka version I would have a hard time resisting.

i thought there was a tezuka version made a while back? No? Yes, I believe you are correct. Hot toy did release figures of astroboy previously, although I am not sure whether it was scaled at 1/6. The plastic one stood at around 7-8inches? (if I remember correctly), It also had a "ton" of cool gimmicks. It was based on the previous latest modernized version of astroboy. I passed on the large plastic version and instead picked up the smaller chrome Hot Toys chogokin version released at around the same time. its a cool little gokin with blue hue-ed light up eyes and red lit heart; its almost entirely metal save for the chest plate cover; even all the hands are metal. ;D Of course we all know about the chogokin Unifive one in the pic, based on the old Tezuka version....

You're right, Hot Toys did release one a few years ago. Of course, it's selling for ridiculous prices now.
The Unifive one in on my hitlist. One day, maybe.

I love Astro Boy, grew up watching it and can't wait for the movie. I'm still waiting to find a nice diecast figure that's reasonably priced.

Just keep looking, last year I picked up the Hot Toys chogokin Astroboy for $40, and a really nice condition Popy chogokin (only missing one rocket punch hand) for like $100 on Ebay- the deals are hard to find but they're out there.

Astro is cool thing to have, but What I really want to see is his rival in the Anime Pluto. That was some bad A$$ robot. Thanx

Not exactly the other way. You went from wanting one to wanting the other instead. I went from wanting one to wanting both.
My way hurts more. ;D
