Man, i don't know how I managed to miss the entire Brave line of robots from Takara. I had collected TFs for many years. Had a few Diaclones and Diakrons. I mostly stayed away from the G2 designs and beyond. I did not like the futuristic vehicles and designs Takara was cranking out. The G1 TFs all looked like common cars and everyday objects that truly were robots in disguise. Anyway during that whole time I somehow managed to completly miss out on the Brave series of toys that Takara was putting out. I had ended up with a few odds and ends like the Sky Garry and a couple others but never really learned much about them. Recently I picked up some unknown Takara robots which led me to finally fully learn about this whole other line of toys I had never even knew about. I must say there were some pretty neat designs. Granted there is many cheesy designs in there as well. I must say I think I am liking many of the classic Brave robots.

Yeah, a lot of the middle-of-the-raod GaoGaiGar stuff is pretty sweet AND fairly cheap. I seriously doubt I'll ever spend over $200 on CMS or something like that. Luckily, the non-CMS stuff is quite enjoyable! ^_^

I keep finding out that the more I learn, the less I actually know. It seems every few weeks something new pops out of the woodwork that was there the whole time, but managed to slip my radar. I guess even with vintage there is always something new.

Same thing happened to me about 6 months ago. Do yourself a favor and pick up some of the Sono Kong toys that are on sale at BBTS. They are the best robot value on the market today. They are official releases, good quality, and 100% compatible with the Takara versions so you can mix/match at your preference. My personal favorites from that list: Might Gaine/Might Kaiser for pure giant brick factor, Sky Saver and Land Bison for really cool, more modern transformations and very satisfying Robot Modes (you need to get Hawk Saver as well for the super combined mode. Also, if you can score a God Silvarion (you can get for ~ $100 from Toy Arena) that's up ther as well..

Any difference between buying the figures separately or in the set? Different paint? Accessories?

Any difference between buying the figures separately or in the set? Different paint? Accessories? Kinda... The standard brave revival Might Gunner comes with an extra sword so if you but them in the set you only get one

Well I'm getting them separate so I got that extra sword. Did he use two in the series? Since they're the same molds as the originals does that mean all the trains modes can combine?
