Apparently, Alternators will all be improved upon versions of G1 characters PLUS the Japanese versions will contain Diecast! This is the coolest Transformers news ever!

Only the Japanese versions will have die-cast. The ever-so-cheap-and-greedy Hasbro will make them in plastic only and charge us $40 each.

Yep. Well Hasbro has always cut corners on their versions. At the very least, most Japanese Transformers have better quality plastic. When RID came around, I tried to buy only Japanese versions, and it really made a difference. Anyway, there's a debate currently raging amongst those in-the-know. Some are saying the Japanese Alternators will be mostly die-cast, as opposed to just containing some die-cast parts. I can only begin to imagine how cool it would be to have a transformer who's car shell was 100% die-cast! It may be time for the remaining Popy fans who have steered clear of TF to cross over

Consisdering the price of the Japanese ones and how 1/24 scale really isn't that big, I hope they're mostly die-cast, or they too will be horribly over-priced.

1/24 scale is about the size of the old MASK vehicles, so they're a pretty decent size.

That is incredible news! Will the US be receiving the first Alternators and then Japan receiving the line second? -sigh- More things to spend money on.

I haven't heard for certain, but traditionally, any time Hasbro and Takara have planned to carry the same Transformers series, Hasbro has released it 6 months to a year earlier.
By the way, a revised popular rumor is that Hasbro's versions WILL contain some diecast and that Takara's versions will be MOSTLY diecast.
Supposedly, Hasbro/Takara plans to release six of them each year.

I think you mean later Shax. The Takara (Binaltech) BT-01 Smokescreen is scheduled for a September release, while Hasbro's Alternator Smokescreen will be released sometime in December or even after the New Year...

Typically the Takara's do come out sooner than the Hasbro stuff.

No. I meant earlier. If what you're saying is correct, this will be the first time in twenty years of Transformers that Takara will be the first one to release a series that both they and Hasbro plan to produce. The only TF series Takara ever released first were RID and the reissues, both because Hasbro hadn't originally intended to do them.

Takara got the reissues and PVC's out first. If you count Diaclone/Diakron, Takara also got the G1's out originally first. It probably was a case of seeing Diakrons on US store shelves that inspired hasbro to "create" the Transformers.
Takara also got some of the BW stuff first; Ravage being the most notable.

Yeah I'm just getting back into collecting TFs, Takara's more specifically. I started up again about two years ago when RID cameout (after a long hiatus and denial that those animal TFs really existed) so I was a bit confused by your post. From what I've seen from RID, G1 reissues and even the JP Armada, Takara always released their toys before Hasbro up to a year earlier (for the same toys that Hasbro intended to release here).

Actually, Armada was released in America first. If you check in at HLJ, you'll see they're catching up quickly, but still haven't even gotten Thundercracker or Skywarp yet.

Hasbro's getting clever to import buyers, and I think it was only released in the US first (in spite of Takara helping to design it and make the toys) just to cut off those who buy imports because they don't like waiting.
