Hmmm...
There is such a thing as a genuine Pepsi Prime, which was Optimus Prime with a small Pepsi logo stuck on his trailer (sells for quite a bit), but I've never seen this before.
I'm going to go ask the experts. I'll let you guys know...

Okay, made my inquiry.
But you know, the more I look at it, the more it looks like someone just slapped some Pepsi stickers on there and tried to make a buck, especially since there's no box. I've closely followed the list of G1 Optimus Prime variants that are known to be out there, and I have NEVER seen this before, so isn't it convenient that the first and only time it ever surfaces is without its box?

Yeah looks like the PEPSI logo is just a huge sticker. and they did not show any of Prime's hands.

We know. I'm trying to determine if it's an unusual variant or an all out fraud.

I think it's a fraud because the sticker doesn't look like it fits right.

Well even if it was a genuine promo, Pepsi may very well have had employees slap stickers on pre-existing Primes.
That's really the issue. I sincerely doubt its something Hasbro/Takara directly manufactured, but there's a reasonable chance Hasbro/Takara distributed Optimus Prime's to Pepsi for promotional purposes,(perhaps before they directly released a Pepsi Prime), where Pepsi then threw on some labels and maybe had some sort of certification or pamphlet go with it.
But either way, without the pamphlet, it's hard to prove its a genuine one. Either way, the bidder on that auction got taken. I just want to know if there's truth to the claim of this being a real promotional piece.

If it is a custom they could have done a better job with the sticker. I bet it is authentic, but I could never justify the expense of such an average looking variant.
In fact I've never understood the draw of a Pepsi Prime.
I recall them selling by the boatload out of ToyShop magazine years back. They were dogs on the secondary market for a long time.

Does Elvin Pena post here at all? I think his collection is in the Collection DX section. He's the best Optimus varriant expert I know of. I know there were 2 different trailers for Pepsi Prime. I believe the stickers were larger on the Canadian version then the US one. Unfortunately the pics are already off (Or my browser is being quirky) so I can't see it. It may be official though...
