Is that vintage? Very nice. I'm not sure I knew they packaged these together back then - I thought this was only a newer release.

Awesome piece. They really knew how to make cool toys back then.

Verywai's timing is funny. I just purchased the Panzeroid reissue on the day before he posted his pics. I was going to throw up pics when I received it, but since he already did such a fine job, I thought I'd just show one of mine because this is just too cool! One thing to note with regards to the separately boxed ones (and I assume that the reissues are identical to the originals). The Panzeroid includes separate fists for Jeeg so he can hold the lance. The fists that come with Jeeg are solid: Also, I just managed to score the elusive black body Jeeg!!!! I wanted to share this pic too. (OK, this is not real - I just put the reissue Jeeg head on a reissue Baron Karza body for fun)

None, except for the magnets and connecting plates. Still, because of these, it has some heft. Definitely recommended, especially the rerelease if you're on a budget. They did an amazing job with it.

I'll bet that had to have been one of the most multi-accessorized and expensive toy back in the day. I have 2 questions: did the Jeeg character inspire the creation of the Mego's (Micronaut) Baron Karza and Force Commander? Which came first, Jeeg or the latter two? Cool pics, guys, Thanks for sharing! zozo-Magengar

Is that vintage? Very nice. I'm not sure I knew they packaged these together back then - I thought this was only a newer release. These pictures appear to be the reproduction set, although there is a vintage version that is nearly identical. I have the vintage set, but it's packed away where I can't easily get at it now, otherwise I'd post a pic or two. The vintage set has fatter missiles for the horse, and the tips are rounded. These rounded missiles were a later version of the toy, around 1978-79 when the DX set was released. The original Panzeroid came out in 1976 and had the pointy, fluted missiles seen above. Another difference is that the vintage toy never came with a lance or Geag fists with holes in them. These are bonus items that were created just for the reproduction toys. Lastly, the instruction sheet has a red border, whereas the original was black all the way to the edge. These repros are of excellent quality, and I think Takara would have been smart to keep the series going with GaKeen and maybe even Baratack. But they dropped the ball, and now it's up to smaller fan-friendly companies like CM to pick it up. Their GaKeen was a slam dunk, and I can't wait for the new Baratack! - Tom V.

I have 2 questions: did the Jeeg character inspire the creation of the Mego's (Micronaut) Baron Karza and Force Commander? Which came first, Jeeg or the latter two? Cool pics, guys, Thanks for sharing! zozo-Magengar Geag came first in 1975, then Baron Karza & Force Commander (and later: Emperor, Green Baron, and King Atlas) were adapted from it by MEGO in 1977. It is unclear who designed the heads of BK and FC, but it could just as easily have been Takara, as they produced the first production run of the toys for MEGO in their Japanese factory. While they were at it, it seems they made a few extras for themselves, because a short time later they put out 2 new versions of Geag: Black Geag & White Geag. Both of these used the normal (colored) Geag head and looked a little silly, but are super-rare. The box was just the normal one with a triangular sticker on the front picturing each special color. The Japanese made versions of BK & FC (and their horses) are of much higher quality than the later ones made in Hong Kong. In addition, both of the heads were re-scupted for the HK versions, which makes me suspect that the original sculpts were done by Takara and they didn't want to give them up. - Tom V.
