Amazing collection!! I'm in awe. I just love the sensory overload of colors from that first pic. That's gotta go up on the webpage! Can I throw it up there on the home page for a bit?
chachipower needs to chime in here as to variations - he's the other Voltron master (other than yourself, it appears).

wow, this is awesome, of course I had to chime in... Im half tempted to pull out ALL my voltron collection haha.. Im not as organized with my variations.. since tons of my stuff was bought loose and parts were replaced to complete others that were broken, so its hard to say what is what and which one came from where I do however have tons of voltron, the Korean bootlegs wth yellow/red wings which I also saw in the pictures above, the blue lion with the ribbing, and tons more... what I DONT have is the bootlegs with the belt variations, I only have the star ones... I only became aware of the belt variations a while back, apparently I wasnt looking close enough when I was buying them This definetely made me smile because I thought I was the only one with a display full of Voltrons. I would love to have the patience to track all the variations!

Very nice! Love the cabinet. Perfect for these toys. I'm a slight GoLion nut, but had to trim my stuff down, and just keep one each really nice Popy (chrome elbow), and Godaikn sets.
Every time I see one of you yahoos with one of those Mid-size Lionbots, I put it one step up on my 'get list' I never see those when they come up. Only after you guys post photos, haha!
Thanks for sharing you collection.

Tried to tie 2 pics together sideways panaramic style Closeup Full view Glane21, thanks for showing off your collection, glad to see Im not the only avid collector of this guy!

Thanks for sharing you collection. Thanks Jon. That Chrome elbowed Popy is one I need to get. Tough to find and I'm not looking forward to the price tag. Regarding the 1/2 scale lionbot DX, there is an Italian seller on ebay who has had them posted for months. Search for Lionbot and scroll down to the Internaional sellers. He's the one asking $154 Buy it Now for them. Those are the 1/2 scale version. He will bargain a bit with Best Offer, but not much.

I'm pretty centered on just the DX variants but I have been tempted to branch out. Can you post closeups of the blister carded set that is leaning on the front of the King Lion box? Is that full sized and all plastic? Also, what is the one to the left of that same King Lion with the similar box art? I've never seen that one before, can you psot some detailed pics of the contents? Thanks!

Im hardcore cause as I kid I was such a huge fan but we couldn't afford the toys which consisted of Lionbot which was out way before matchbox. my paper voltrons just weren't cutting it. My grandma did manage to get me a "chogokin" brand yellow lion though. my favorite.
I started with DX stuff and was overjoyed at the trendmasters diecast reissue. I accidentally tripped on a box at kaybee while trying to reach for a stormtrooper figure, I cursed the box at first but when I looked and saw a huge voltron box I nearly had a heart attack. I immediately scared all the kids in that isle away with my girlish squeaks of joy. I then hunched over and made a crazy face while making "creepy hands" like a mad scientist would do and proceeded to horde the boxes and walked out... after paying... $29.99 each! that is cheap gokin!
then when I was new to ebay I decided to type voltron in the search field... the rest is history. anyways enough stories.
The blister card one if its the same one Im thinkin of is called Silvan King. its a plastic mid-size... It may even be the same mold as the mid size lionbot. I will have to check. The Silvan king is in one of my videos at the end of a review, sort of like a bonus for watching.
the smaller box with the artwork is a korean knockoff I picked up years ago. its a combiner but no articulation in the lion legs and the chrome is sub standard.
another cool one is the happy meal voltron which is a miniature toynami one. has hologram stickers underneath each lion. Its from a fast food restaurant in the philippines. jollybee I think?
in any case, once I get home ill take some closeups of those

Yeah! I mean hardcore as a compliment of course! When I was a kid I had the 6" diecast and the Yellow and Green lion of the DX set that was sold separately. Still have both sets. I longed for the complete DX of course but they were big$$ to a kid. Kind of hard to play with just an arm and a leg.
I also remember the back in 1984 when the robot craze was just starting, many stores at the local malls like the various Kiosks and Spencers Gifts had stacks of the Lionbot sets for around $60. I remember being irritated because it was clearly Voltron but called something else. It was a bootlegger bonanza. I think that's why all the mold variants were created back then. All those shadey retailers wanted some robot stock to sell.
But I'm glad they did because I love the variants. My favorite being the Diamond belt with the Sharpened Chest Crest. They really put some effort into modifying the molds for that one.
Looking forward to seeing those closeups!

this is my kind of thread, love reading peoples stories. you had a yellow AND a green?!! wow haha I only had a yellow but I loved it to death. there was a little chinese shop in queens where I lived. it was robot central back then. mostly bootlegs but good quality ones, not the dollar store stuff like today. good old fashioned diecast.. don't even get me started on chinatown nyc..
I loved those chinese stores.. not enough for a lionbot? they'll sell you a single lion with weapons out of the lionbot box! my single yellow lion actually came in a box with golion logo and labeled chogokin. It cost $10 back then which was lots of money but my grandma sprung for it. Complete with missle action and razor sharp teeth. Probably the happiest day of my life.

Dude, there are serious collectors of any one robot specimen here at RJ... Tsuruji with his many Mazinkaisers is one who immediately comes to mind. And many other collectors, as well... ...my point is, You are one Serious Golion collector, from what I can see in these pics here. Man, That is what I'd call a Focused collection! So far, I only had time to notice the different Faces on them Golions; but I'm sure there are many more differences I've yet to spot. A quick glance won't suffice for what more I can see there. Thanks for posting and sharing your pics. That truly deserves to have its own website gallery. Awesome! zozo-Magengar

Wow ,thanks for all the close ups, to help get a feel for what some of these variants look like up close. Some of these toys are the same as a "10ft. car" heehee.
I did the EXACT same squealy, evil scientist, dance in KayBee also! Only I missed the diecast, but got the blister packed 2packs of the plastic DX Trendmasters. I liked how they had the little driver figs, just like the old 70's Battlestar Gallactica toys. Can't hold a candle to Golion, but a fun find for sure! I was thrilled somebody/somecompany still cared.

Thanks Chachipower for those pics. I'll have to track down one of those Silvan Kings. I keep hoping to see them in Big Lots. They frequently have similarly blister - packed combiners. Right now they have the Insect one and a plane one. Maybe the golion boot will show up there eventually.
