Okay, I'm openning a can of worms with this thread but let me repeat AGAIN....................HASBRO SUCKS! I can live with them cranking out yucky versions of Armada in crappy paint jobs and cruddy plastic, Jetfire is a prime example! Next we get re-issues of Prime and Magnus without the full 'stacks( safety concerns?) Later we hear that they won't be releasing Megatron due to some idiot law in the U.S.A concerning realistic looking handguns...( Megatron a realistic looking piece?) Then we get an ugly package of the Masterpiece edition of Optimus with ugly color scheme and a shortened 'stack again. The re-issues for Jazz, and Prowl for the U.S. had lost their chrome weapons to one for black. Take a look at Jazz's face mold.....reminds me of the Gen2 atrocity! Starscreams' weapons....'nuff said! Now we hear that the ENERGON/Superlink Convoy not only has a much improved chrome and paint motif appearance....but the Japanese version has no MOUTH!!!!!! What the f**k was Hasbro thinking??! They ought to shoot that corporate slug who gave the go-ahead to manufacture the Ultra 7 wannabee! I can recite a litany of faults....Binaltech to Plastic Alternators? Are they insulting the intelligence of the buying consumers? We can only take that much CRAP! This site has been out for quite sometime, I hope you can send a lttle kick in the butt to Hasbro concerning such UNSAVORY PRACTICES! Better yet, why not start a massive PRODUCT RECALL? They do that to Ford F-150s or Expeditions....why not toys? Hurt 'em where it matters the most....the RETURN ON INVESTMENT!

I believe they are trying to get a wider audiece specifically kids, and trying to make it affordable (well at least to the parents who will buy it) thus affecting packaging, the look and material of the toy and then affecting adult collectors with it.
Once you get a label of 5 and up on the packaging it would be what you get. Unlike labeling it at 15 and up.

I like the passion of your statements Fenrir72. Yes, it is a thin line they walk between profit increases, and what a shame when they compromise toy quality to get it. Hopefully it is a trend that won't continue.

I always buy Takara Version of the Transformers and I don't know why I bought the US Version of TF Armada. It was already too late when I realize that I was buying the wrong version. I've already bought over half of the Armada Toy line. When I saw the Energon Transformers at Wal-Mart last week I was really disappointed on the Quality of the Plastic and also the Paint Job. LOOKS CHEAP. It reminds me of the BOOTLEG TRANSFORMERS. I promised myself I will never buy HARBRO TRANSFORMERS again.

I hate hasbro for importing the diaclone and microman line in the 80s, and inspiring millions of children to imagine and dream.
I hate them for taking overpriced expensive toys and reissuing them for a fraction of the cost so adult collectors can relive their childhood without having to take out a second mortgage.
And most of all, I hate them for taking expensive import toys and making affordable versions for todays kids to play with. How dare they make toys for KIDS! SCREW THE US SAFETY STANDARDS! Like I care if a cop cant tell the difference between the megatron walther p-38 and a real gun from 500 feet away. PLEASE!

This is my first visit over here in T-ville, but I had to chime in on this thread. This Christmas, I bought my nephew the Hasbro Optimus Prime. The kid is nine years old, and Transformer crazy. My nephew was stoked, but when I took a look at the toy, it was a piece of poop. It reminded me of those junky toys you see in the super market right near the school supplies aisle- cheap construction- high price. I could have bought something much cooler for the same money. JWM

In response to JoshB....I salute Hasbro for the Transformer concept of the "80's"! Truely the start of something big.......what I am ranting against is the PRESENT HASBRO! Gee whiz....compare the Gen 1 release to their japanese counterparts....virtually identical except for the box language. Now...well 'nuff said! The straw that broke the camel's back is the Energon Prime's face plate change! What gives? I almost accepted the fact that the U.S. release will look cruddy....but releasing two batches of Energon Prime ? You can't even tell the difference whether or not its got lips until you open the box? I'm ranting against the corporate SLUG who gave the go signal to release the atrocity! Sure this may sound a bit corny....but if you remember the Tom Hanks movie: Big, they were involved in toy development if I recall ( correct me if I am wrong) somewhere along the line, they got Hanks as a consultant on what toys are fun and what aren't, screw the grown-ups....man.....what Hasbro did with Energon Prime is not FUN! I may be in my mid 30's but I still know how to enjoy my toys. I buy them not to sell them for future investments, I buy them so as I can play them......maybe give them to my grandchildren so I want to enjoy the toys. You get my point? As this website grows and its influence spread....we can send them policy makers a message to get like-minded people or enthusiasts to ADVISE them on how to make a good toy. Not the bottom line...or whatever terms them Capitalists use. Take japan for example...the toys look kiddy? Or do you want one that looks realistic? Again, Jetfire Armada is a good example to boot.

frankly, i did think of collecting some TFs for the sake of reliving my childhood.
i went down to a shopping mall one day thinking to grab one or 2 for fun, i was turned off by its color scheme, the look of the plastic and worst of all the material of it like a crappy piece of junky bootleg unknown robot. this really sucked...... i was thinking where were the glorious days back in 85's TFs.........
but i must give Takara a thumbs up for their Master piece convoy Optimus prime.

Though I can't say anything to your criticsims of US version paint jobs, most of your comments are unfounded. First off, Hasbro has nothing to do with US Toy safety laws. If you have a problem with the laws, write to your representatives or at least direct your ranting to the goofballs who sue toy companies when their kid hurts themselves shoving fun toys up their nose. Japan doesn't have the same laws, so they don't have to put the same limits on the toys. The original G1 TFs came out at a time when the safety standards were very different. Second, Takara designs the toys and graciously allows Hasbro to sell them here, so if you don't like 'Sentai' Prime, direct your complaints to Takara, not Hasbro. The "Corporate Slug" who OK'ed the toy was from the Land of the Rising Sun. Third, if you don't like the toys, don't buy them. Neither Hasbro nor Takara (or any other company for that matter) owes you anything. It's a fairly common misconception among fans that the company marketing the thing which they are unduly obsessed with is obligated in any way to please them. Hasbro/Takara are companies in the business of selling toys to kids, not internet savvy fan boy dorks. We are lucky that they actually put out some toys aimed at older collectors (Alternators/Masterpiece) as that is certainly not the most lucrative avenue. Thank you Buy A Super Robot T-Shirt

I don't really care much about safely law stuff like that. I really care about quality and details. Like for example HOT SHOT from TRANSFORMERS Armada. You can tell the difference between the HASBRO and TAKARA version. First, the red over painted Autobot symbol from Hasbro. That is really ugly. While the TAKARA version has really nice paint job. Second is the missing paint on his Belt/Straps. While the TAKARA version has paint on all the straps. I'm not sure if HASBRO did those in purpose but I didn't like it.

To Jake...how sure are you that the corporate slug who O.Ked the yucky lip version Convoy was Japanese in the first place? If it was Japanese, how come they're releasing the "flat-faced" version in Japan first? And don't tell me the legal spin used "....we are constantly upgrading our product.....pictures may vary from actual product...." And no, no one is forcing me to buy the Transformer product, but as a consumer....we can VOICE out our concerns on the contemptous attitudes this corporations churn out at the consumers! Its a cop out if you go by the line then don't buy it...! I want to buy IT! Just please, don't shaft us consumers! Heck, remember how a lot of U.S. cars keep getting RECALLED due to safety concerns? Don't tell me their R and D never noticed those defects, they just wanted to see if they can get away with it while no one is looking! But you made a point about if you don't like the product...don't buy it RIGHT? Let me meander for a bit, take a look at the videogame industry, SEGA shafted us consumers by churning out half-assed consoles( remember the 32x?) They never recovered since ( despite the stellar rebirth in the Dreamcast), heck, if it wasn't for the HARDCORE audience, who'd ever remember that the DC was a SEGA product? ( Remember the start up in their previous products...SEEEEEEGGGGGGGAAAAA) Now back to Hasbro, in 1994, when they released TF Gen2 the monstrosity of the added CGI graphic interludes and not to mention HORRENDOUS recasting of their molds......( Jazz, Sideswipe, Aerialbots,Combaticons...yuck) ! What happened then? As a result, the great Convoy products (the semi-tanker trucks) were relegated to obscurity! So Hasbro shouldn't their CUSTOMERS for GRANTED and continously churn out CRAPPY products! Just because Transformers is experiencing a SECOND Renaissance, HASBRO should'nt get complacient! Else the Transformer line be condemned to another Dark Age of obscurity!

I got to thinking...if I'm an internet savvy fanboy dork.............what does that make you Jake? You're in the internet, you reponded to the thread! You shouldn't throw stones in glass house else you'll get splinters ! Stooping so low to name calling? It's the issues we're talking about! And no...........Hasbro and Takara OWES US the consumer big TIME! If we don't BUY, they can't make a profit and they go BANKRUPT! Are you gonna be a mindless couch potato or drone and just consume all the garbage they churn out?

I never said I wasn't a toy dork. What I said was we are *not* Habro's primary market, regardless of how many angry posts we make on a NG or BBS somewhere. And no, I am not going to be a "couch potato drone". When a toy comes out that I don't like, I don't buy it. (what a concept!) If you want to send Hasbro a message by not buying their "crap", then more power to you. Vote with your wallet. Go a step further, send them angry letters about why you don't like the paint applications or detailing on the toys. I'm sure they will take it into consideration. In specific reference to Sentai Prime, I seem to recall that the non-mouth havin' version is being released in the US. Go over to ATT and ask around, I think that's where I read that. In the meantime, the sooner you calm down and realize that Hasbro, Takara, Bandai and any other toy companies aren't trying to sell to angry 20 something internet dorks (myself included), the sooner you can relax and enjoy the hobby that much more. Don't get upset over toys, there are much more important areas to focus your energy on. Thank you Go and buy a T-Shirt

I say don't blame Hasbro blame the old people who make up stupid laws who we put into office. Second money is the name of the game so hasbro is doing what is needed to stay in the front lead believe it or not america is fat and picky So i agree buy what you feel is worth your attention. Just think about what if hasbro or Takara didn't exsist now thats scary

hi disgruntled dudes/dudettes...i dont know much the robots mentioned here..there"s passion in your words...so i"ll tread gently..these cheap nasty imposters that flood the market are only cannon fodder..but they do fire up the imagination of the youth..and turn some of those distructive little devils into serious collectors further down the line...they also ensure that few robots survive intact....but on a personal note....hasbro...were watching you!!!
