Nice hauls Coldiron!
MR Rescue is a really cool toyline, paying great homage to the original 600 series MR toys, with the combining gimmick added. The quality is great on them. Classic diecast proportions, and added articulation. I would have preferred they continued on more with these than with Mugenbine, but that's just me. Mugenbine seems like it's a pretty cool toyline of its own, it just doesn't "feel" like Machine Robo, imho.
What I really, really wish Bandai would do, is start a new line of MR toys, with today's production standards, but go back to the original 600 series formula. Keep the diecast content substantial, produce a vast, ongoing selection of vehicles/robots, but with SOC caliber engineering and production. Also, still keep them small, in the 4 to 5 inch range, and afforadable, in the 25 - 40 dollar range.

I second the motion REX Lately I've been enjoying the MR line and all of its very VERY odd incarnations and Tonka twists & turns. It is strange, but there is a good deal of history to be detailed. RJ will probably get an update soon in the MR arena.

MR just doesn't seem to get the recognition it deserves. There really is a lot to its history. The whole GoBots saga, what it could have been if it were handled better, the legacy of MR as one of Bandai's few original properties (as in, not being a toy based off a Toei series), what's next for it, etc, etc.
I'm really surprised Bandai doesn't put more resources into it. Would love if they did!

I would like to see them keep the Mugibine engine figures going too. I think that would be a good toy to introduce my kid to robots. They could be creative buy making their own designs, plus it keeps them away form my toy collection.

Yeah, I think it would have been/would be fine if Mugenbine exist(ed) along side of the standard MR line, but I really think they should have just called it Mugenbine, and left the MR out of it. I don't think there is anything about it associated with MR besides having the same pegs that MR Rescue had, is there? I don't have first-hand experience with Mugenbine, so I don't know for sure, but I don't recognize the connection (no pun intended :-P).
I guess that's my thing with Mugenbine. The toys do look kind of neat though, and I have been tempted to buy a set on many occasions just to try it out, but there was always something else I rathered to spend the 20 or 30 dollars on.

Just came across this awesome vid with both intros and the first outro. That first intro is still one of my all time fave anime intros. Love that song! So does this means Baikanfu is like the Machine Robo equivalent of Optimus Prime? Not quite. I'd say Baikanfu is more like the Machine Robo equivalent of Voltron. As the action and conflict builds, Rom first merges with the Wolf Sword to become Kenryu (as the Voltron force first uses the Lions when under attack), then in the moment of crisis, Kenryu summons the forces of nature to become Baikanfu (like the Lions ultimately forming Voltron). Then, Baikanfu's finishing move is usually the Thunder Punch or Thunder Kick.

Todays haul. Don't mind the Transformer on the left. Only flaw among these three is no hook for Crain Brain, but I figured for .99, I can live without it.

Many of the GoBots toys were beautiful and on par with their brethren released as "Transformers" in the same time period...the GoBots were done in, IMHO, by (1) the weak TV show, and (2) the fact that "Tonka" was the company behind them in the U.S., a name that meant "kiddie toy" to most 12-year-old boys and therefore soured sales to the audience they really needed to market to.

Well said MrPopTop.
That is true about the Tonka brand. It was a name I associated with a 5 year old pushing a truck around, not transformable robots.

Gobots is similar in design to new Transformers the animated series, the one shown in Cartoon Network.....I remember the bad guy CyKill the one that turns into a motor cycle....other than that I can't remember the other robots....
