Here is Bandai's new RD version of the Macross frontier figures!!
This is the first release and comes with the armor parts.
The figure is made primarily of PVC with some ABS parts, all of the armor is ABS though.
The figure does not transform but is capable of far more action then any other iteration including the 1/100 versions (however those are entirely out of ABS) But again you cant transform these.
Ill make the review quick. These figures have a lot more articulation and have high QC where the joints are concerned. Painting app is decent too. Armor snaps on tight for the most part, only the chest plate pops off frequently during play, otherwise, you dont have to worry about random parts just falling off nor be scared to touch it. Oh one more thing, the wing back is also detachable and falls off easily during play, again, it wont fall off every time you touch it , but moving some parts it will come off.
One of my biggest complaints! The gun looks like a cheap water gun. It is very unremarkable in every conceivable way. At least he holds it well.
Verdict, not bad, especially if you dont feel like paying the big bucks for the Chogkin versions (especially with the armor parts) and dont care too much about transforming it and like the 5" scale, its a great alternative. Or better yet, its a great compliment to the larger jets and show off the RD battroid mode.
