yeah it picks up a bit later on, if you made it this far you might as well watch the rest. BTW it turns out that FMP was based on Light novels before anything. Also, The director liked the comedy moments so much that they made Fumooffu to represent it...... could be why the second raid is a lot lighter on the comedy then the first season.

Lets get it to the Point. At what Episode !!!!! Thanx....... Man....you only this far after all this time? Episode 6 is where the Arbalest finally appears. And then we get more Arbalest action in episode 7. After that we get 2 or 3 eps of break time with a gradual build-up to the next crisis. The Behemoth mech....which again needs to be dispatched by guess who? Sagura and the Arbalest. Its a gradual build-up, but i think the action and emotional development in the characters pays off in spades by the end of the season. P.S. Man whats the big deal? You get action with other armslaves like the M9 Gernsback and the Savages. Isnt the action there good enough? Episode 5 and 6 should have been great!

I honestly dont think the Love Comedy thing is really that heavy here. Trust me...if you think FMP is heavy on that....then you havent seen anything yet. And in general i despise love comedies anyways. Especially ones that go no where or have over the top fan service. That aside. I thought the whole terrorist angle and the hijacking of the Boeing 747 was great. And the rescue mission by Mithrill. If your not pleased by what occurs in episode 4, 5, and 6....wow.....just wow. Got some high expectations there buddy. But hey its your taste. Also.....Babilon are you watching FMP with japanese audio and english subs or FMP's English dub? Usually i would stick with japanese dubs for most anime shows....but the english dub for FMP i think makes the show ever more entertaining. Perhaps thats why i found the show all the more enjoyable.... ;D

hmm well they show itself calls it a romantic comedy (at least in Fummoffu i did where it concentrated more on the comedy aspect of the show). The fact that sagura and koname both like each other but are afraid to say/ act so and have that love/hate realtionship (a la ranma 1/2 and countless others), and lets not for get tessarosa thrown in the mix, typical love comedy with a love triangle that in the end, doesnt go anywhere lol. And yeah there are a lot of anime out there that goes further then FMP but that aspect is definitely there. Also plenty of fan service, panty shots galore, im fine with that though i hate japanese infatuation with seeing panties......... but whatever...
I am actually one of those guys that are for english dubs! Good dubs anyway, dubs have came a long way since the late 80s and 90s and voice actors put a lot more into thier rolls, and i love ad libbing especially when they change jokes and stuff that we can understand or be more familiar with (shin chan is one of them) oh and accents, gotta love the use of different accents, i dont think they emulate accents in pure japanese anime.

Not to hijack this thread and change the topic, but in response to your comment above: On second thought i guess i have the agree with you about the comedy romance thing in FMP. There is some love triangle thing going on and virtually all of kaname and Sagura's actions and motives are based upon their awkward love for each other. That damn submarine captain just makes things worse. Actually out of all the criticisms i have for this anime, Testarossa takes the cake. I mean a 16 year old girl (even if she is a genius) for a captain? A captain that commands the most advanced submarine in the world? Yeah right...... As for english dubs, although i would have to agree that english dubs for anime have come a long way from what they were in the 80s and 90s, however, the good anime dub i find is still relatively rare. There are only a handful of dubs for anime series that i can think of that have english voice casts that rival their japanese counterparts. Among the best i would say in recent memory include: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (All seasons and movies) Full Metal Panic (1st, 2nd 3rd seasons) Full Metal Alchemist Disney dubs for Miyazaki movies (Spirited Away, Ponyo etc...) Paranoia Agent Samurai Champloo Some of the english dubs that i absolutely hate in recent memory include: Gurren Lagann The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Spice and Wolf Negima!? Kurau Phantom Memory *shudders* I would like to add that whoever played Kamina in the Gurren Lagann english dub especially sucked. Hands down the guy who did the japanese Kamina was the superior emotive actor.

LOL in defense we are talking about FMP where the mecah in this thread hail from, so i hope babilon doesnt mind too much lol.
lol yeah tessa is pretty stupid as the captain and she sucks in almost every way aside from being a sort of plot device (since shes one of the whispered) one i hope that is further expanded in the upcoming season (well i hope so) probably in the manga but i dont particularly read manga. Oh and shes pretty cute too, I actually like her more then Kanme but that means she wont get the guy, the japanese are notorious for making secondary love interest prime candidates (that usually rival the main love interest) and then completely leave them in the dust) its very annoying actually. LOL i tend to watch a lot love comedies (and full out drama) animes due to my wife.......... most of them infuriate me to no end because some the main character always end up with some douche bag...... i guess its kinda like real life, the good guys never win lol.
Well I definitely agree with your first batch, (all great animes btw)id like to add Baccano to the mix too. I havent seen most of the second aside from gurren lagan (the American dub did suck in that) and Kurau. Still havent seen the other, but im kidna spoiled, if i know there is an english dub i dont even bother with the jp versions unfortunately, so i really cant compare. The one thing that is slightly annoying though, is the overuse of voice actors, I dont rembmer the names by heart but there are like 5 that have been cycled through several animes, they dont don much to change their voices either (no matter how much they say they had to change thier voice for this particular part) the good news as the 5 are fairly good, but it annoys me to watch five different animes and have the same voices in most of them.
I know DBZ was by far the absolute worse for me, I used to watch that series in complete japanese, no subtitles even!! lol i was so excited when i first heard it was going to air on fox.... and then............ they killed the series for me completely............ super beam cannon and alternate dimensions be damned!

Now that you have mentioned Gurrn Lagann. I first heard about it from Revoltech then I started searching for the anime, when I saw the first Episode I really didn't like what I saw, the second Episode had some action within it but it wasn't that much. However, when I saw the third Episode that have the Extreme battle between Enki & Gurrn Lagann, after that episode I was like "OMG , now that is an anime you must see !!!!" Thanx......

Gurren Lagann. Yeah we all know how over the top it is with its brand of action. I like it. Really dynamic and it works well within its art style and plot premise. The new Eva movies are sort of like Gurren Lagann. Especially Evangelion 2.0. If you liked Gurren Lagann and the epic awesomeness of that anime, check out Evangelion 2.0. If you were disappointed with End of Eva or indeed the Eva tv series you wont be after watching the second Rebuild of Eva movie. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Going a bit off-topic now but i was wondering...did you ever finish Full Metal Panic? If so....how was it?

You know dude, I watched the whole series & the End of Eva, the series didn't have much of an action with the robots (& it is categorized as mecha). It was only concentrating on the physiology of that Brat Shinji (who is one of my most hated characters of all time after the End of Eva). Now I really trust you man . Can I bother you to put the names for those movies you are recommending. Thanx.......
