Had him a couple of days transformed in each direction just the once. Overall he's pretty cool, robot mode not as good as BT-01, but car mode is again superb. Transformation fairly complex, but involving much less risk of scuffing of metal which is a good thing. Anyway first day of work in the New Year, body clock not adjusted back to normal hours yet, tired, but have produce a single image. At some point I'll spend some more time on this and take the robot mode that's probably of more interest to everyone.

Dear Ed, Kumtoshi here. Here's a couple pics of my Sideswipe in an alternate transformation which I've not seen anywhere else. I gave him shoulder missile/laser launchers--use your imagination! Anyways, by pivoting his tires behind his shoulders immediately after swinging them straight out from car to robot mode, you can easily accomplish this. The doors then fold forward giving the impression that they could be used as launchers of some sort. The side mirrors could be targetintg reticles for each 'wing'. Also, when I pose him as if he's using his jetpack with his arms facing backwards, you can position the side mirrors directly in front of each eye, giving the impression that they are some sort of flight control/sight of some sort. What do you think? I think .....COOL. The engineers had some tricks in the bag . Thanks K!

Got the Alternators version from a Target in New York today! I absolutely love him.
Just curious though, how much more diecast is in the Japanese Binaltechs, and does it really affect the quality noticably?

Well IMHO the Takara ones are better cause there is a shimmer in the diecast version that the Alternators don't have. But if you just want a toy and no worries about paint chipping then get the alternator.
The die cast content is the main body of the car, the rest are plastic. So once it is in the car mode, the takara can pass as a 1:24 scale model car. While the alternator will still look like a toy.

I can see the pros and cons there. I'm already scuffing up my Lambor by playing with it. Die-cast and paint would be fabulous, but I'd probably be worrying excessively. Can't argue with the $20 price tag either.
How's the die cast different in Japanese vs. American MP Prime, by the way? I know about the battle damage and shorter stacks on the American version, but is everything else the same?

Die cast content is the same.
Though Hasbro does not have the cardboard trailer.
