I've been on a kick with a Japanese card game for MS Gundam. It's called Gundam Battline. It's a CCG where each card as a scannable barcode on the back, where you can scan the cards into the computer using a usb scanner pen (a Cosca pen?) and then use them to play a cool Mobile Suit Battle game online. The game is by NetCarddass and Bandai. There's a flash game and a virtual 3D battle game as well. You have to download free software to play. Works better on IE unfortunately. It's pretty neat though. Here's the official site: www.battline.info/You can get booster packs and starters at HLJ and AmiAmi: www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Word=battline&Dis=2&from=detail&searchpage=top_pageStarter Deck with Cosca pen and 08th MS Team Starter pack Battline set 2 booster box....Got it at AmiAmi...

Do you play other people online or do you just play a computer?

Do you play other people online or do you just play a computer? With the flash version you can actually play other people online. The 3D version I've only been able to practice versus myself with one of my customized decks, so far as I know.... . Havn't been able to play a regular 3D battle as of yet.

That actually sounds pretty neat, are the rules complicated? The pic of the box says net carddass, I remember having some gundam cards as a kid that had carddass on them, is this an evolution of those?

That actually sounds pretty neat, are the rules complicated? The pic of the box says net carddass, I remember having some gundam cards as a kid that had carddass on them, is this an evolution of those? Yeah, it's actually a lot cooler than I'm probably making it sound. As for the rules, they're really not that complicated. However, the format is heavy on the Japanese language. The hardest part I would say is perhaps setting up the username and password for the game. But that's actually pretty easy too, as I just used babelfish for a translation tool. The other part that was difficult at first was building up your deck/MS formation in the formation screen. You have an option to set your deck for land, space or a combination of land/space capable MS. Your deck formation depends on how you've set up the land/space aspect, if that makes any sense. Plus the formation screen is all in Japanese for the most part. But really all you do is scan your cards into the system and drag and drop it into the formation slots, which are temporarily filled with a GM for EFSF and a Zaku II for the Zeon. Still, once you've done that a few times, you get pretty used to how this should be done! Plus the Content menu is in English! The..."Gameplay" is pretty simple. You're basically trying to destroy the other forces battleship/mobile armor/carrier (aka capture the flag). You can start out by building a deck from your physical card library or the virtual library available in the Formation screen. Each deck that you build can be made up of up to 21 cards. There are 4 types of cards that you can use to set up your deck in the formation screen. Mobile Suit, Pilot, Customization and Commander cards. The most numerous slots are for the MS, Pilot and Customization cards. There is one single card spot available for a Commander of your choosing. For the flash version of the game you're controlling your squad manually for the most part, Each MS can move for a certain amount of spaces and cost a certain amount to deploy. The computer by-and-large keeps track of this for you but it's pretty easy to see after you've played a few rounds. As for the 3D version, it's all simulation. The computer keeps track of everything, from moves to cost for deployment. Just sit back and watch the pretty battle ensue! The only other thing I had to do was install a driver for the cosca USB pen. I don't even think I had to do it, but I thought I was having issues with scanning after I plugged the pen into my computer. It takes a few times to get the hang of precise scanning. But works pretty well. Even if you don't have a pen for some reason, each card has a code you can input into the system manually. NetCardDass does make the Gundam War cards as well, if that's what you're referring to, but yes, I'd say this is definitely an evolution of that if not a substantial overhaul. I will post up some pictures from my deck libraries and the different cards in a little bit. I just got the 08th MS Team Zeon starter deck and another EFSF starter today along with EFSF and Zeon Ace Pilot starters. To start out, the best thing to do is go to the main page and set up a username password. Then go download the software. ncd-gundam.com/gcb/gcb/gundam_chronicle_battline.jspHere's the Cosca driver page: www.cosca.info/drivers.phpAlso the inside of the Cosca starter set comes with some setup info and websites.

I should also let you know that you can play the game without purchasing any physical cards, there are virtual stock cards available once you install the game and set your account up. That way you can try it out an play a couple rounds without investing the cash in boosters and starters. The cards are all virtual anyways once you put them into the system

Here are some pics of cards from my physical library. They're from the 08th MS Team deck. These are set up in formation: MS, Pilot, Customization.... Ace Pilot Starters... Some rare foil cards from my by set 2 booster box.... I forgot to take a couple pics of the commander cards. I'll see if I can find some later though! Forgot to mention also, with each card scanned and each battle won, you earn points to be exchanged for virtual cards from NetCardDass.
