www.hlj.com/product/XPS00681www.1999.co.jp/eng/10094808This Goldar/Magma Taishi figure came out in November, and is already sold out at the few places that had it. Was wondering if anyone here has it, and could give a quick review of it, and maybe some suggestions as to where to find it now. Thanks in advance!

Wish I would have known about it before release. I would have jumped on it immediately. Have been looking for a good vinyl of this character for some time, but seeing as they are so scarce, they are few and far between. It's no wonder this is sold out already.
I am right there with you. If anyone knows where to grab one, please chime in.

I preordered it back in the summer. After spending a good $150 and waiting months, honestly I was a bit underwhelmed. It doesn't help that I got it from a source which didn't clarify what it was made of. It looked like resin in the pictures due to the sharp detailing. Turns out it was soft vinyl and much smaller than I had imagined too, at barely 9". Weighs almost nothing as the vinyl isn't terribly thick. Worse still, I had seen prerelease pics of it having alternate hands and head and coming with a rocket version of Magma. Nope. That's a rarer special edition. Mine was the standard version which inexplicably comes only with one head (looking downwards which I hate) open handed arms and no rocket. It comes with a flimsy, flat plastic stand which he tends to want to lean forward in. I thought the downward looking head seemed odd so I tried to bend it slightly upwards and the friggin head popped right out of its socket. No biggie right? Wrong. For some reason it doesn't want to seat back in place. Forever after it easily fell right out of the neck hole so I had to glue it in.
Of course much of my reaction was due to false expectations but still it aint all that and certainly not worth the obscene amount of money. If it was 12" and solid resin then maybe, but not super lightweight vinyl and only 9". I don't see how they justify such a price. It's somewhat limited edition i assume, but it's X-Plus for craps, sake, not some guy making only 100 of them out of his garage. Over $100???
The marmit real action heroes version of Magma is actually much more accurate in the face and I much prefer it over this guy. I realize it's even more expensive and nearly impossible to find but there ya go. Magma stuff is just freaking scarce, even in Japan.

I barely remember that guy from Waaay on back. I have only remember a single scene of some frog monster shooting his tongue at Goldar and then Goldar rips it off. That plays over and over in my head - why in the world I'd hang onto that memory instead of something more important.
