I just read an article on Arstechnica suggesting how Sony could make the PSP Go "not suck." I got to thinking my original PSP (5 years old already!) is kind of dying and needs replacing. The shell is cracked in a few places because I dropped it once. And the battery compartment isn't as secure as it used to be (meaning one wrong angle, and the battery-contacts slip, instantly turning off the whole system). So now I'm thinking of grabbing a new one. I'm aware of the PSP Go's limitations (being digital only and that none of the old accessories work with it). But I'm just wondering, with all this rumour of a relaunch... did anybody on RJ get a PSP Go? Don't be shy, we won't laugh if you did.

Parents bought it for li' bro. I find the old one more comfortable to hold, but the buttons are more comfy on this one.

Unless you really need one now, there is really no rush to get one at least not at this price. Think on 50 more bucks and you can get a PS3 slim. In terms bang for your buck, this PSPgo is never going to be worth it. Slow downloading from the PSN store. Slow Installation onto the game unit. And the main thing is that it's isn't hacked yet. The PSP library of games really isn't all that great. And there are an abundance of Mini games that you can buy, application game that are similar to the ones you can buy for the iphone, but those to me aren't really games. I like my original and I recent picked up a beat up PSP-2001 star war edition because those can be hacked. I refurbished the 2001 model by adding a new face plate and fixing the broken Joystick. With CFW on the PSP, there is no need to buy the games, also I get to run emulators that let me play all kinds of old games. So instead of buying FFVII on the PSN network, I just rip my original FFVII PSX game and create the Eboot myself. And I get to play all kinds of Playstation games and nintendo, sega, and even Neo Geo games.
Can't do any of this on the PSPGo until they create some kind of hack on it. IMHO I still think it's too pricey and there isn't anything that the PSPGo that can do that the older models aren't capable of.
What they should have done was made it into a Cell Phone. Just add cell phone features, they can take it from the SONY/Erickson division, and they might have been able to compete with Iphone and droid.

I still buy some of the games, Last one I got was the Queens blade game of the PSP cause it has that Figma Figure Name CUTE. But majority of the games, why buy when I can easy get them off the web. Unless their are actually things that I want from that game, I am not going to buy it. I bought the Dissidia game because I collect anything that has to do Final Fantasy VII. I don't play the actual UMD cause I rip the game into an ISO and run it off the Memory Stick. Planning on buying the Kingdom Hearts game when that get release. I am still waiting for a patch or a new CFW so that I can play the Japanese ISO. But majority of the game, I don't buy and it's easily available for me to get off the web, so why buy.
Pretty much every game system I have had is hack in some way. My PSX has a mod chip, The dreamcast don't need any mod. My PS2 has a HDD addon with HDLoader disk-REALLY OUT DATED way to play backups. My Gameboy and advance, I had a supercard. My DS lite, I have the M3 Real Deal Cartridge. My Wii, it has homebrew channel and I run games off a portable HDD. Two system that I have is not hack. my 360 and PS3, and the PS3 only cause there isn't any mod or hack available. There are mod and firmware flashes that I can do on my 360 but I don't want to get suspended from my paid Xbox live subscriptions, so the 360 isnt modded. Perhaps when the 360 drops to 100$, I'll get one just for the purpose of modding to play backups, but there isn't anything I like to play on both the 360 or PS3 that isn't multiplayer online.

Thanks for the input. I just wanted to hear what other people thought of the PSP Go in general. I doubt I would buy one since I have so many PSP/PSP-Slim accessories already I don't feel like rebuying all my memory cards, and cables, etc.
I think what krimpov is getting at is that some of us (myself included) work in the IT industry. And while you may think it's not worth the purchase price, I personally like to get paid for the software I write and maintain. So somebody has to pay my bosses so that I can get my salary paid out.

I was actually psych-ed to get this when I 1st heard about it, but then I realized that you couldn't use any of your UMD game cartridges with it and that was the real deal breaker.
If it had UMD functionality I'd likely get it when I comes time to replace mine.

heres the thing, downloadable games......... you cant rent to try out and if you buy it you cant return it either. Heck, you cant even trade the games in or sell to a friend......if you ended up trading your psp go and you had a ton of games, you will be stuck with them unless you saved them all to a mem card...and find someone willing to pay you somewhat fairly for all your games........ not worth it
